Do you check your supermarket till receipts?

Well, I didn't until last week. Along with my shopping I collected a couple of things for a friend and when checking my (long) receipt for her items prices, found that fourth item from end of receipt was a packet of crisps £1.10p that I hadn't bought Couple of days later I went back to customer service till and asked how could this be and was told no problem we will refund you. The assistant didn't seem surprised at all, in fact seemed quite used to it. I appreciate that with a long receipt you wouldn't check each item, but I will from now on.... might be more than £1.10p next time!

Back from supermarket this morning read your post whilst having my coffee. Thought I found an extra item for £3 on bill then checked fridge all was well I had chosen that item. Yes I  don't check my receipt that often. Have a quick scan and if the total seems about right that's it normally.

I always have a quick check of my receipts and quite often find overcharging mistakes with special offers or price reduced items.

Having had a couple of bad experiences I always check special offers, as the shelf prices can sometimes not be reflected in the tills.  It used to be much easier when items had price stickers on them of course.

I can understand special offer prices not being right but I can't understand being charged for a phantom packet of crisps. They were definitely not with my shopping, so where did they come from to be scanned and where did they go? Answers on a postcard to.......

I always check my receipts since a friend was once charged £40.00 for some grapes instead of (a still pricey) £4.00.

A friend of mine was charged £7 for a child’s jewellery box he was lucky to check as he only bought 4 items. When the manager checked the store didn’t even stock this item ???

Cindy yes I checked ours this morning. The only obvious mistake, the Broccoli was listed as Cauliflower on the receipt. I shall be emailing Head Office to complain and claim compo !
