Can I chuck old mattress at Sterling Road Recycling Centre?

Hi,Can’t seem to find the answer to this myself.  Does anyone know if the guys at the Sterling Road Recycling Centre would have any objections to an old mattress?  I wouldn’t want to get there only for them to say “no it it needs to go to Greenford.”Also, can I bring the mattress on the roof rack of my car?  Who knows - they might have a problem with that too. Thanks!!!Joe

They should take it at the Townmead recycling site.

Not Stirling Road but if I remember correctly Michael is right about Townmead Road and you can definately (!) deposit it at Greenford.

Check any recycling place - you're likely to need to pre-book an appointment - you can't just turn up and expect to dump, at least that's the case at Townmead.

You MUST be joking!! The staff at Stirling Rd will turn you away without hesitation. They're all work-shy and must be loving it that people have to book. Every time i pass by the place is either empty or near-to.

Jeremy.... Are you 'H'?

I found this on London Recycles and it looks interesring:https://www.collectyouroldbed.com/You always need to check on the particular West London Waste Authority site.  We can take things to Abbey Road in Brent as well.  You have to book at all of them.

Although, as others have said, you have to book, I don't see why you couldn't take a mattress to Stirling Road. It is bulky household waste. And I can't see that having it on your roof rack rather than in the car should make any difference

Stirling Road have never taken mattresses as long as I can remember. Greenford takes mattresses but if it's on your car roof you might have trouble getting under their 'domestic vehicles' height restriction. Check the website.

I was at the Sterling Road tip this morning and noticed a mattress in the general waste container. So, maybe?

HOUNSLOW Council will collect mattresses

Quick question on Stirling Road. I was there this morning getting rid of green waste, plastic and old metal. The area near the very small space it takes up is being part bulldozed in readiness for Acton Town's Gotham City extension. Next to the dump are a storage centre that is a year old and on the other side is a business park that looks modern as well. Assuming they are going as the dump is too small a site to accommodate a block of flats, who pays for the owners of the two buildings to move out?

It's impossible to work out what the overall plan is for development on the South Acton Industrial Estate, or even if there is one. Unlike the South Acton Estate/Acton Gardens development, which at least had an overarching master plan that's still being rolled out, the industrial estate is getting random industrial buildings turning into residential blocks and ad hoc proposals for tower blocks to go on parking lots, while nearby new industrial units have recently opened.
