May 2 day Closure of Riverside Drive

Notification from LBH, (2 A4 sheets tied to a roadside post), of the closure of Riverside Drive on 24th/25th of May from 8am to 5pm has recently appeared at the junction of Riverside Drive and Staveley Gardens. The reason given is to facilitate highway works between Chertsey Rd and the Staveley Gardens junction. This action will prevent any vehicular access/egress to/from  Staveley Gardens, Alexandra Gardens and the remainder of Riverside Drive. I am not aware of any residents receiving prior notification. I wouldn't know about the schools coaching students to the playing fieldsCould any of our local Councillors look into this please?Do the planners know that the three roads involved are all no through roads?

This bloody ridiculous, the 24th & 25th May 2021 are a Monday and Tuesday.how can LBOH think they can block access to two large housing estates for most of the day.If it's Hounslow Highways, then they need to be contacted straight away to stop this job, as some residents have carers and nursing staff who visit their homes on Mondays.Remember Councilor Steve Curran you have block off our only emergency way out, by blocking Dan Mason Drive. If this notice has been read correctly, maybe the mark frost replacement should aquatint him / herself with the road layout before blocking approx 400 people in their houses. Also why have two workmen been walking around in Staveley Gardens this afternoon spraying white lines on the tarmac pavements.looks like another Hounslow mess up with not advising local residents of the intending work.

I think the new white markings are probably to do with the water meters we got the letter about earlier this week.

The meters in most cases will be installed at the front of the houses. Not outside our back gates.I have a feeling where the last footpath contractor didn’t finish off the foot path replacement, another contractor is going to replaced the bits of path missed.

It is much more than likely the road will be closed from just beyond the two estate access points so residents will still have vehicular access but how the gym and sports clubs will is another question.Maybe the tunnel will be opened for the duration.

The reason given is to facilitate highway works between Chertsey Rd and the Staveley Gardens junction. The OP stated the above from the notice. The work is being carried out by Hounslow Highways, who only maintain this small stretch of road. The part of Riverside Drive, from Staveley Gardens to the river is in the park, and maintained by Hounslow Parks Department.

All very odd as superficial there appears to be nothing wrong with the road surface and if the wording on the notice is correct then it would appear the residents have problem.Opening the tunnel may well be the answer.

I think you must be right with that Bernard. I had a look around our bit this morning and the markings are only around the part that was never done before because the previous contractor ran out of tarmac. The meter would certainly be in the front.

Dear Cllr Todd,Thank you for bring this to our attention and my apologies for the confusion that this has been caused.Hounslow Highways will be undertaken some carriageway resurfacing work on Riverside Drive between Chertsey Road and Staveley Gardens on 24 and 25 May. However, the resurfacing work will be undertaken in two halves using temporary traffic signals so the road will not be closed. The notice should have been for some temporary waiting restrictions to facilitate the works rather than referring the a road closure. I will arrange for the notice to be removed and a corrected one displayed.

Many thanks John, obviously someone didn't read through the notice before it was printed and posted. There will be many relieved residents around the area.
