Mobile tecky question

Could someone please advise on a service provider?I'm with O2 but apparently they're merging with Virgin Media, subject to approval. I've heard that Virgin Media can be problematic. Should I switch to Three or Vodaphone?

Merging with Virgin will still be o2 as virgin will be using o2 network like they use EE currently which is BT. That is a notification if your with virgin mobile and know o2 does not work where you want it to But if your with o2 you maybe wish to look at tesco mobile as they are cheaper than o2 and use o2 network and know many who have switched from o2 to tesco for a better deal but same network that being o2. Atleast with tesco and soon to be virgin your know where your o2 network is reliable like in the home. So no need to worry over the merger

Three is pretty good in London - and really good when you're outside the UK I've found. We moved our team from EE to Three - went from £30 per month to around £5 and no-one really noticed or cared.EE is more expensive and is the one I'd use if you're using your mobile for work a lot and don't mind paying a bit more.  Customer service is particularly good on the odd occasion I've needed it.Vodafone - had a bad experience in 1994 and still hold it against them :-)

I've been happy with Vodafone although I know a lot of people complain about the customer support. Bought my last phone through Carphone Warehouse online and the Samsung model I wanted cost quite a bit more for the Vodafone network but I was happy to pay as I have found the Vodafone coverage is very reliable, whereas I know those on other networks often encounter areas where they can't get a signal.

Just make sure that if you move away from o2 completely that the network you choose away from o2 works where you need it most.  That being home and work otherwise you could switch and have not a strong signal at home for instance

You are completely right Julian I am sticking with o2 as any other provider makes me have to walk outside if I want to make a call - still I only have 2 bars!!!

Have a look at Smarty. I'm in Chiswick and don't have any connection problems. (I think they use 3).Apart from usual deals on call minutes and txt messages depending on contract they offer refunds each month on unused data.

Thanks everyone. That's really helpful. I bought an Android Sony phone before Xmas and it's caused me so many problems and so very complicated to use! I'll head back to O2 to try and sort out the issues but I am struggling. It needs a Wi-fi connection and with all the free Wi-fi hotspots down due to Covid it has been a difficulty. Getting old and with sight problems too and it does make life difficult! Stay forever young folks!

Why can't you connect via a 4 or 5G connection when there is no WiFi?  Most phones do that automatically if you enable the setting.

I've been with Virgin Mobile since I bought my first mobile phone in 2002. Never had any problems.

Will you get an o2 signal susan ? as ive mentioned above, your virgin mobile is moving to the o2 network from the EE network. No doubt some rural people may become affected as EE has a slightly bigger network coverage over o2
