Old coins and notes to give away

I'm clearing out and have an assortment of coins and notes from various countries I've visited over the last 30 years or so. Some of the countries no longer exist! Before I take them with other items to Sterling Road, I wondered if anyone might have any interest in them? Happy to bring them to you.

BA use to collect assorted foreign cash etc for charity. No idea if there is a way to contribute other than giving it to a steward when you get off the plane. But that may be a useful way to use it.

If no takers why not try to sell them on Gumtree and donate the proceeds to charity. Alternatively treat yourself to a couple of pints.

The currency exchange booth in Sainsburys Richmond used to have a box for foreign coins / notes that they would donate to charity.  Don't think it's there any more - the currency exchange booth that is - but maybe try another money shop.  Don't know if there are any on CHR as don't tend to frequent that but there are a few in the Hammersmith Broadway Centre if you want to venture out.

Charity shops will open in a week or so.  I'm sure they would take them off your hands.

Barnardos in TGT did at one time : in my experience the last one that did as it’s a lot of bother to change it.  I once put some in a bank letterbox with a note saying give to charity since they have to deal with foreign currency now and again.

Cash4Coins seems still to be taking them, including through Sainsbury's:https://www.cash4coins.co.uk/sainsburys/https://www.cash4coins.co.uk/coins-charity/Cash4Coins is also on Twitter where the most recent Tweet was May 2020 which seems a bit out of date though it might be because not much travelling has happened since then.

A local school may be able to make use of them for geography lessons. For people of a certain ageadmittedly mainly boys their sole interest in geography may have been mainly based on their stamp collecting. If you put the coins in an envelope marked "coins" along with a covering letter explaining your intentions you could possibly post this through the letterbox of a local schoolmichael adams...

You could try taking them to your bank. I took some to mine a few years ago and to my surprise my account was credited with £75.
