Good Delivery Service?

I haven't used Sainsbury since they failed to turn up with a large order with no notification a few months ago. A few days later they replied to my emails to say there ahad been a problem at the warehouse. No apology.  Last night Ocado Zoom delivered the wrong order. I reordered the goods I was supposed to get yesterday again today. At 8.15 pm I got an email to say it was on its way. At 8.30 pm I got an email to say it had been cancelled. No explanation.Any suggestions for a decent reliable delivery service would be appreciated.

We started with deliveries from Tesco when nothing else was available and many months on we still have them every week. I have to say they have been excellent.

We always use Waitrose who are absolutely reliable and if the deliverer thinks he (or she) wll be earlier than planned; they will ring and check that you are home.

I use either Waitrose or Ocado.  I prefer the food from Waitrose, but have had rather too many substitutions from them (5 in one weekly order).  Ocado have been very good and reliable.  Most of their stuff is from M&S these days, but they have some items that they provide themselves and are very good quality.

To be honest Tesco were the only company with which I could manage to place an order in the early days of lockdown no.1. I had an account with Ocado but could never get beyond the massive queue, same with Sainsbury's. I know that Tesco put a lot of effort into increasing their delivery slots - more than any other major supermarket so I stuck with them for that reason. I suspect it's much easier to get slots now though. I think we have to be prepared for items not to be available quite regularly as the combined effects of the pandemic and Brexit take their toll on supply chains. Not to mention ships stuck in canals!

Hi . Sorry to hear about your delivery problem. I have to say I have used Sainsburys for my deliveries for so many years I can’t even remember. I’ve never been let down with a delivery. Occasionally I have been notified that an item is out of stock, I won’t change. I have used Ocado  sometimes but never since they stopped their partnership with Waitrose and are now with M&S

Not good on either Sainsburys or Ocado. We started using Co-op a couple of months ago, sent our orders in before 11am and got same day delivery for 99p or £1.99 later.Delivery from Fulham came just before time due and delivered by motorbike. There was a limit of 30 items per order at the time, but you could make another order for a different time I guess.We haven't needed a delivery for 3/4 weeks so might have changed.NB we were first time users.

I think you have been a bit unlucky with Zoom — I have used them since they opened and have never had any problems at all — in fact I think they are brilliant:  bang on time and correct items every time.  My only criticism would be sometimes they are out of stock of things.  I used to use Waitrose and they were excellent too.

I used Sainsburys a few times over lockdown, but am not keen on the fact they no longer put things in bags for you. Instead all the shopping arrives in boxes which you have to decant into the hallway and then lug to the kitchen - whilst ruining my back in the process. For that reason alone, I will not use them in future, unless there is no other option - which is a shame as all the foodstuffs were fine. I use Ocado and they are consistently good so will stick with them

Waitrose only put items in bags if you have ticked the 'pack in bags' box near the end of the process. It costs 40p to have the shopping delivered in bags. I try to do without the bags but occasionally tick the 'bag box'. Are you sure Sainsburys don't give the same option?

Anne, not for the first time, you are not talking to a forum of imbeciles although many of your posts imply that is what you think W4.com is populated by. Sainsburys, a bit like the LTN brigade, have taken the tick box about saving the planet to absurd degrees which means we avoid them  but still get what we have to get done in other ways which are probably even more disruptive to the planet.
