Of course Sam's plan wasn't a bad idea and I believe Chisou also wanted outside space and we lost both.

Come on Claire I can'tsee you ever partaking of a pint and doing the hokey cokey in a sports bar - horses for courses, so long as the customers don't disturb the surrounding residents - good wishes for a new business and venue.

Looking at the other pubs they have it seems they just have one or two medium-sized TVs up on the wall. Can't see sky sports from googling so just when it is on terrestrial tv I guess.

And that's thanks to the vocal minority for making pointless objections. Sam worked tirelessly for years to get approval. It should never have taken that long. Lack of local support for a local business led him to pull up stakes and locate elsewhere. Well done, folks. Well done.

Sweaty Betty's was the place for breakfast opposite Leeds University. No cream cakes there but plenty of greasy bacon and black pudding.

Sounds like after a trip to Sweaty Betty's for a greasy fry-up, one would then need to go to Sweaty Betty's on TGT for some new running/gym gear...

Aren't the two concepts of "Gastropub" and "Sports Bar" rather contradictory?Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of both, but each in their place.Meaning if I'm enjoying eg some nice Spanish food and wine in the Duke of Sussex, I don't particularly want to be distracted by sports fans enjoying the football.And ditto, when enjoying a game in Connolly's, I'm more than happy with beer and a burger.Oh well, best of luck to them either way - I've personally always felt it was the hidden away location which makes it hard for anyone to make a go of that site, not the type or standard of the operation itself.

It sounds down market to me. The dainty saunter through Barley Mow Passage is unlikely to remain that way with another pub (The Lamb) across the alley and perhaps baying loud mouth scalleywags making passage intolerable! (Sorry it's me age!).Joe Allen's in Covent Garden did ok..whilst hidden out of the way.

The existing pubs in the chain charge £16.50 for a burger so down market is probably the wrong word.Looking at the offerings elsewhere, I don't think this will be a sports bar in the sense that they would show say Crystal Palace vs Burnley on a Tuesday night. They seem to be promoting major sporting events like the Euros and the Lions tour.Given the layout of the site, the screen would probably be positioned at the far right as you enter with the part to the left for people who want to sit down and eat without watching any sport.
