Electrics Out Again

This is happening several times a week now in North Chiswick, beyond  a joke. Have work to finish by the morning and now stumbling around in the dark with only mobile phone torch an a couple of candles.

Go to bed. It'll be light soon.

Buy an APC battery back-up.

This is incredibly well built for the money and will light up the whole room and its only £8 Best bargain buy of last year for me given the build and price https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3085723?clickSR=slp:term:portable%20light:2:3241:1

Just wait till there are more cars plugged in

Rudolf Hucker ● 2050d

Just back on again now. Thanks for the suggestions, I am certainly going to look into those.

Just buy a shitload more candles.

They didn't help power the computer last night, Simon.  Maybe I should try again? I was a bit afraid of burning the wires...

Claire Moran ● 2050d

Why don't you just pay the leccy bill?

Simon Temple ● 2050d

Ask the lamp posts, they were out too.

Claire Moran ● 2050d

Do you live a ghetto?

Simon Temple ● 2050d

I think the electricity company is turning it into one.

Claire Moran ● 2050d

That makes no sense. You're not shacked up with Brownie are you?

Simon Temple ● 2050d

Definitely well-worth investing in an uninterruptable power supply - at least for anyone engaged in mission-critical or time-sensitive computer-based work.

So much for these new-fangled rechargeable electric cars!

PE > "So much for these new-fangled rechargeable electric cars!"So much for trying to fill up an old-fangled petrol/diesel car at a filling station that has no electricity!

Always carry a can of spare electricity in the boot!

Peter Evans ● 2050d

PE > "Always carry a can of spare electricity in the boot!"Just be sure that it is safely and securely enclosed in a certified container. The container should be marked 'SHOCK HAZARD!'.

I require a fully operational electric supply to power my oxygen converter - I do have an emergency cylinder of liquid oxygen but if everything goes off when I'm asleep in the dead of night and I didn't know - maybe I'd never wake up.  Must ask BOC if my machine would screech and wake me.  Even so not easy stumbling about in the dark trying to move tubes about from converter to liquid oxygen cylinder in hall cupboard - candles of course are out!  Reminder, I must get a decent reliable bedside torch.  Would the £8 gadget Julian advised work for me???

Well, the story on the front page says it was a rogue circuit and they sent a letter out.  No letter was ever received by me.  Anyway, let's hope it's now fixed, not fun in the cold and dark with no access to computer with urgent work to do.
