Turnham Green Terrace

Can somebody please tell me what the current situation is as far as driving down the terrace, I seem to remember a period of time it was reopened while roadworks were ongoing near Sainsburys but I’m not sure about now. Thanks

Open to all traffic in both directions. Parking is a different matter.

Ugh, I know. They should open the parking spaces again. Should have done ages ago. But there's no telling the council, is there?

While social distancing among pedestrians is still advised, suspending the parking spaces in TGT at least makes some kind of sense, unlike many of the other traffic schemes in the area.

Peter Evans ● 2060d

Haven’t been there in ages. How does the suspension of parking help with social distancing ? I can’t get my head around it.

Maggie Dodge ● 2060d

In that case widen the pavement on the other side of TGT to accommodate pedestrians. Or any other pavement. Closing off the parking spaces on TGT is mindless.

Simon Temple ● 2060d

Agree - how on earth does closing off the parking spaces help with anything? Just stops people being able to shop quickly and locally at the shops both on the terrace and that end of the high street.

Mark Edwards ● 2060d

What about permanently widening the pavements and making TGT one way?  Then there'd be space for outside tables for cafes and restaurants.

Ed Saper ● 2060d

Not with Fishers Lane closed. Anyway, who wants to eat on a pavement with cars going by all the time?

Simon Temple ● 2060d

And the little matter of the E3 bus. How many times are we going to  replay this fantasy?

Bruce Hammal ● 2060d

Just put things back to how they were. Re-open Fishers Lane to cars, what's the big deal?

Simon Temple ● 2060d

And those awful red and white plastic barriers on Staveley Road! So attractive. Coming back from Richmond you can't go left down Hartington Road. LTN? Hartington is a wide boulevard with the houses set well back from the road and there's never any congestion!

"Anyway, who wants to eat on a pavement with cars going by all the time?"You've just described urban al fresco dining. The government has announced pavement dining will be facilitated through September 2022 at no additional costs to businesses who have a permit. Not sure what that may mean for newer venues or those without a permit.

Far too clever and far too simple for the bullies of Hounslow council.
