OMG if u think parking charges in Chiswick have gone up it’s nothing compared to Hammersmith and Fulham Same van, euro 6 btw, same duration £6.40 per hr including £1 surcharge for Diesel engine Now that just obscene profiteering, hope customers expecting tradespeople are aware this will b going on their bills

Hi Chris, I would not worry. Apparently the Hounslow cycling lobby and Tom Pike are very concerned about local tradespeople and have their best interests in mind. Strangely enough I am sure these middle class professionals can afford to pay these extra charges when they need trades people.

Hi Chris, because its part of the broader picture. I think you will find Tom brought in the issue of income groups in the thread he created, with a sudden concern for others beyond his little bubble. Many traders are very unhappy.Parking charges have also gone up in Hounslow. At the same time both Hounslow and Ealing now offer spaces in resident zones to businesses and commuters. So its rather hard to keep up as to what these boroughs are trying to achieve. Is it less vehicles or more? Do they even know?

I think Ealing are proposing a yearly,poss. £1500 charge for tradesmen and delivery drivers etc. for a parking anywhere inside bays.

Unless you live on the 20th floor of a tower block and there are no nearby parking bays.Many tickets are given out after cctv evidence nowadays, no ticket on your windscreen.

That's strange, 'cos a few years ago I received a parking fine as a result of being filmed by a CCTV camera. (Happily with help from Richard Jennings it was overturned)

I think Mark's right, you can't be issued with a PCN by a council just on the evidence of a CCTV camera anymore. It was down to the fact that while you would need CCTV for moving traffic offences, there was no absolute need for CCTV to be used for the enforcement of parking offences as this could be done by CEOs on foot/moped etc. Only if it is 'unsafe' for a CEO to record the details/issue the PCN would CCTV evidence be allowed.

Does a tradesman want to buy a local permit at £1,500. That’s possibly helpful if your entire customer base is in one borough. If you’re a plumber for arguments sake and one job is in Chiswick, the next in Hammersmith, how does that work?

The London Borough of Hounslow is introducing a similar permit for particular local businesses i.e. those that in order to carry out their business they need to travel around the borough. This was pioneered in Conservative run Wandsworth. Although there was not (initially) a huge take up, those who have purchased permits are extremely grateful. There are possible abuses and I have asked that Hounslow review the scheme after 18 months.

Agree Maggie there needs to be more joined up thinking across London, never will happen with a useless Mayor hell bent on cycle scheme yet is chauffeured around in a Range Rover 😂😂😂😂😂 he is a joke!

Thank goodness we are close to getting rid of Khan. Just have to wait a bit longer for Bell and Curran. They can all cycle off into the sunset or to their cars parked round the corner . 😂

Speaking as some one who was actively canvassing in that campaign there were certainly many erstwhile Conservative voters who voted for Sadiq "because for the first time I can vote for someone who looks like me and has had to deal with the same prejudices as I have". There is not much you can say to that !There were also those who resented Zac Goldsmith's privileged background. Zac was (and remains) a Brexiter and this lost him a lot of votes in otherwise strongly Conservative areas.

There are prejudices against those with privileged backgrounds which I find very odd as they are usually much more sympathetic to those in difficult situations, more so than those that have had a fairly rough time of it theyusually come back with what are you moaning about we had it much worse and so on.

Actually I think it can work both ways. It’s hard to sympathise about a situation you have never been in. On the other hand, if you’ve had it hard , then I agree there a chance when you’re told a hard luck story, you may well say yes I’ve had it hard too. Not sure what all that proves though 😂

There are those who are always happy to benefit from the wealthy but not have a good word to say in return, there are some very generous people obviously I cannot discuss in detail on here.
