Oh I dunno, Emma, I don't think you appreciate just how much shop owners have "stepped up" this past year to keep the lights on.We have all been placed in an unfathomable, untenable position suddenly becoming adjunct police officers without any of the power. We get plenty of the abuse but absolutely no recourse to control a situation other than to make a request. And we still, to this day, get people asking if masks are required or if they can sit down. And they will have a go at us when we try to explain. And we have seen people turn around and walk out in a huff. So when every single penny matters, and you are absolutely pinned to the wall and exhausted from trying, indeed, one or two maskless customers will get served. Before you have a go at me for that truth, ask yourself what the difference is between those few customers and those who have a valid reason for not wearing a mask who also get served. The answer? None bar selfishness, stupidity or in some cases, necessity.
