Lost Excel document

I've just lost an Excel document.  One moment it was there....someone spoke to me and I lost attention...then....gone!It's not in the recycle bin, I've searched my documents and it's not there, is there anywhere else to look?  Thanks.

Recent folders? That's a Mac thing but I'm sure it must exist on PCs

Have you tried: File > Open recent?  Might be on the list.

Excel is usually pretty good about keeping its own copy of changes you've made but haven't saved. Was this a new document that you hadn't yet saved?  If you restart Excel, it may tell you about unsaved changes and enable you to recover them.What versions of Excel and Windows are you using?

Thanks so much Bruce, Katherine and Richard.  I went down the line of lost and recent and I'm delighted to say it was there.  Such a relief and a lesson learned.  I'm on windows 2000, a mere 21 years old!
