Can I just use a 1st class stamp and it will get there ok reasonably quickly, or do I need more? Royal Mail website a tad obscure and rarely send letters here, let alone across the pond.

Definitely not enough. To write to my son in Japan I need two 1st class but always add one for luck.US must need at least two.

Minimum £1.70 up to 20g. £2.55 up to 100g. It's all on the Royal Mail website under prices.

Letter under 100g comes up as £1.45 has to be under 24 x 16.5 x 0.5 cm in size or it is a higher price as a large letter. The web site has interactive tools to work out the cost.

World Zone. Prices vary according to size/weight/signed for etc. The Royal Mail app makes it easy to work out the price. Buying the right postage and printing online will do it all in one go, all you have to do is post it.

Cheers Bruce, could save me a stroll down the Strand, but might do that anyway. Guess she’s still open?

The £1.45/£1.55 rate is for International Economy (sea mail) which has a 42-day delivery aim.
