Yes Peter,  on Acton Lane just past the junction with North Acton Road. They make chocolate digestives there amongst others. There is sometimes a sweet biscuity smell when waiting at the junction  traffic lights.

That's, or at least used to be if it still isn't, the McVitie's factory.I used to be a warehouse line manager in a place opposite in a past life.Got sick of that slightly sickly sweet smell after a while.

I'm cream crackered - or I'm Jacobs'ed

The great cracker was created in Ireland by two of the Jacob family.  Which distinguishes it from the well know family Jacobs (with an s).This is a very important detail because I'm related to a branch of the Jacobs family, who were Hackney fishmongers.  But I can assure everyone that my Jacobs had nothing to do with Jacob's cream crackers.Bagels possibly but crackers no...(nice thread Julesy)

Yes its the Mcvities factory, still is - I wrongly thought Mcvities owned Jacobs but infact both are owned by United biscuits. There is though a Jacobs connection with that factory as they also make mini cheddar's which is a Jacobs brand.

Where Tesco at Osterley now stands used to be a United Biscuits factory.My first employment in London after escaping from Preston aged barely 18 was there, sweeping up around the outside of the factory with a huge broom and washing the lorries down with a crude jet wash affair,£40 a week which was almost double what I earned up north.All the Jamaica Ginger Cake I could eat as well.
