Sad Death of John O'Dwyer

So sad. When we visited London over the years we often passed Irishman John O'Dwyer in his makeshift home on the A4 under the M4 flyover at Chiswick. I don't know if it is true but I have been told his wife and daughter were killed at that spot about 36 years ago and he refused to leave that spot after all those years. John was found dead by the police in his makeshift home last Tuesday. does anyone know the circumstances regarding his wife and daughter's death?

Neil, there was an article in the Chiswick Herald that said his wife and daughter were killed in a car crash on the roundabout.

Thank you. If it is correct how sad. You hear of dogs refusing to move from where it's owner  had died but this is extraordinary.

The story about him setting up camp there because of the death of his family near the spot is just one of a number of local legends about him. I don't think it is actually true.

No one has come forward to confirm it although it would have been long time ago if it did ever happen.
