It started before Christmas at the Heart of Hounslow clinic. It is apparently starting at Chiswick HC today. Over 80s, care home staff and residents first. Then over 75s, then over 70s and clinically vulnerable and so on. So looking at that will tell you when you might get the call/text. There was a problem with the NHS IT system hence a slightly delayed rollout. Then they were given a week to get it up and running. Premises had to be found where it was possible for patients to stay for 15 mins to make sure there were no reactions, without impacting on the Practices getting on with normal doctoring. Hence Heart of Hounslow and Chiswick HC

Is anyone else getting a wee bit concerned that this mob, once again may not be up to the task? Or offering something that is undeliverable? (Sunny Uplands?) It's been 4 weeks since first vax, and we're now doing 500,000 per week. Seems a huge figure but at that rate, by this time 2022 we would have vaccinated less than half the population. Both Boris and Matt are talking about Spring, which to me is the end of March. That would mean doing about 4-5,000,000 a week, and that's just one jab. That's a huge step up. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The amazing and wonderful Betty Boothroyd on BBC just now giving the government a very big piece of her mind on the fact that what they are planning with this vaccine (ie a longer interval than 21 days) is not what the manufacturers recommended and basically said they are messing it all up big time.

For Hounslow it’s now:-1,017 cases per 100,000 people in the latest week 25 Dec-31 Dec. The average area in England had 453.This is from the BBC website

Chiswick HC not suitable. Poor access for vulnerable elderly who have been shielding. There is no parking or easy  access, Heart of Hounslow better but too far away. Oxford vaccine does not need the 15 minute observation for possible allergic response. We need drive through facilities in large car parks or to use non health venues such as hotels with conference facilities. Just needs some imagination but that is sorely lacking.

The interesting thing about the Pfizer vaccine is that if the 2nd dose is not taken within the recommended 3 week period, Pfizer does not guarantee its effectiveness, according to the BBC. The Oxford vaccine is not as effective as the Pfizer vaccine, but if the Pfizer vaccine is not taken the way Pfizer suggests, maybe the vaccines even out?  https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-55503739

The big one is Heathrow. Why not use a terminal at Heathrow as a giant vacination centre. Pie in the sky? Well the Germans are converting a terminal at Berlin airport into a vacination centre.

I totally agree the town hall is large enough stands mainly unused, about time these premises were put to good use,yes I know children's play schemes and exercise classes are held there but not at present with lockdown, it has been used by the Ukranian embassy so obviously able to offer vaccinations here too.

While there are plenty of potential sites around has anyone thought how many people would be required to achieve 2,000,000 jabs a week?  I haven't heard the Chuckle brothers talking about that.It would take 20,000 people doing 100 jabs a week each. Or 40,000 doing 50 a week. For 3 months?

WHO have just said they don’t support the idea of the second jab being given after 12 weeks, it should be done 21 days after the first.

A relative had the 2nd jab yesterday, 21 days after the 1st, so some doctors are continuing as before. A new delay would have been very worrying for them.

It's the Pfizer (splg) one that has the 2nd injection after 21 days - the Astra one is designed to be done much later, so it depends which vaccine you are being given, it's a mite confusing but important that as many as poss. get vaccinated.
