So what's new?

Vanessa Smith ● 2124d

If the phrase 'in vino veritas' has any truth to it, we must conclude he is a tee-totaller.

Francis Rowe ● 2124d

Yes,pretty well-documented and further complicated by more than a passing relationship with Class A drugs (like Michael Gove).

Stewart Jones ● 2124d

Not sure if this is correct but did hear that heavy drinkers and drug users don't get Covid.

Janice Evans ● 2124d

"... did hear that heavy drinkers and drug users don't get Covid."Did you forget that Boris had Covid last April?

Richard Jennings ● 2124d

That's the point Richard.

Janice Evans ● 2124d

It might not be true but I did read that somewhere.

Janice Evans ● 2124d

Maybe he's got 'Long Covid' ? If so it could restrict his cerebral capacity, just a thought 😉

Loraine Pemberton ● 2124d

https://www.euro.who.int/__data/assets/pdf_file/0010/437608/Alcoho… · PDF fileAccording to the World Health Organisation alcohol provides NO PROTECTION against Covid. Perhaps the experts, whose advice is  above, are wrong Janice?

John Connelly ● 2124d

Possibly because I thought it lowered the immune system, was trying toremember which article it was and it did mention Methadone.

Janice Evans ● 2124d

Sorry, Dexamethasome has been life saving, the others alcohol, drugs, methadone etc., help stop the suffering of pain etc., due to Covid,My apologies should have look it up first.

Janice Evans ● 2124d

It's nonsense Janice and you shouldn't spread such rubbish.

Carl Wynne ● 2124d

I thought he was only there to Get Brexit Done.

Philippa Bond ● 2124d

Bozza might be more effective if he was as high as a kite - as he certainly isn't now!

Vanessa Smith ● 2124d

I think he has quite a depressive personality and may well self-medicate with alcohol. And let's not forget the red-wine-on-white-sofa incident when police were called to his house in Camberwell.

Susan Kelly ● 2124d

Boris is happy to close Primary schools in London and the south east but wants them to stay open up north. Is this part of his much vaunted levelling up strategy?

John Connelly ● 2124d

Who are you suggesting for the job of Prime Minister?  Talk about a poisoned challis!!  Small wonder he looks fair wore out and exhausted.  Personally, I think the Covid illness continued to affect him long after his release from hospital too.  Any way people - who would you like to see as Prime Minister right now?

Jennifer Selig ● 2124d

Larry the No. 10 mouser!

Vanessa Smith ● 2124d

Carl, I said this might not be true, ................

Janice Evans ● 2124d

Dylan the dog. Or actually anyone competent. Rules out all those in the cabinet though. Or failing Grayling. How about Keir Starmer?

Iris Hill ● 2124d

Yes,pretty well-documented and further complicated by more than a passing relationship with Class A drugs (like Michael Gove). Michael Gove is a Class A drug?

Richard Evans ● 2124d

Boris doesn’t have a drink problem.,But he has a big Klaus Schwaub and Bill Gates problem.,And when that truth comes out (and it will soon!) he will need more than a few lines of Charlie to escape Judgement Day.,

bobby osborne ● 2124d

I don't think Boris was the only one talking over his inquisitor.  Andrew Marr seemed to be doing quite a lot of it himself.  Seems he has his knickers in a twist like most BBC commentators now that we have left the EU.

Derek Hill ● 2124d

But nevertheless, you repeated it.

Carl Wynne ● 2124d

Think Larry the mouser had a few to many he couldn't catch that pigeon.

Janice Evans ● 2124d

Carl, so I did 😒 naughty step.

Janice Evans ● 2124d

Who are "Borris" and "Andre" ?

Richard Greenhough ● 2124d

I notice nobody gave him a comb for Christmas. So easy to slip into the stocking too.

Susan Kelly ● 2124d

Think he’s trying to cover up the growing baldness with his dishevelled don’t care look.

Vivienne Cox ● 2124d

Well isn't there a single human bean to take on the enormous job of running our UK?  What are we to do come an Election Day?

Jennifer Selig ● 2124d

If there is more talk about rejoining the EU, no one will trust anyone elsecome next election.

Janice Evans ● 2124d

I have heard admittedly 2nd hand but on good authority that he has long Covid.  For me he is a hero.  Delivered Brexit. Delivered a trade deal.  And probably still ill.

David Lovegrove ● 2124d

I've just caught up with the interview. He did have the demeanour of the man who has been on an extended bender but that could also be the same look a man who has been under intense pressure for months during which he suffered an serious illness. The hair was disconcerting as he was in a studio and could have run a comb through it, whether it is an affectation or an attempt to cover up a bald patch as some have suggested is impossible to tell but it did give him the look of a man who had slept in the same clothes for the last few days. His sombre tone could be the sign of a depressive hangover or it could be that for the first time in his premiership he has actually listened to what his advisors told him and realised things are actually very bad.

Jeremy Parkinson ● 2124d

David Lovegrove ● 2124d

Are you THE J.P of telly fame?    Your report tells it as it is, especially the last paragraph.  All along he needed to have surrounded himself with wise experienced people, instead he did the opposite.  It'the last chance saloon so he'better get a grip NOW!

Jennifer Selig ● 2124d

I think today he will follow what the labour leader said yesterday Total lockdown  now.He seems to  that recently.

Jon morris ● 2124d

"Well isn't there a single human bean to take on the enormous job of running our UK?"Well, Gordon Bean had a go, but was rejected by the electorate. Perhaps Steve Curran's Sontarans are paused to take over on the grounds that humans are no longer up to the job. After all, they have made a huge success of running Hounslow.....

Richard Greenhough ● 2123d

I think the suggestion that he might have Long Covid have been made by people who are unaware of how lazy he is so his lassitude and inaction are normal and not signs of a disease. The Conservatives seem to have realised he has a shelf life and has served his purpose. As the inquest into the handling of Covid and the growing understanding of how bad the Brexit deal grow he is likely to be made to carry the can. To be fair to him he had zero input into the terms of the new trade arrangement so can't be blamed on points of detail. My own prediction is that it is the Scottish referendum issue that will bring him down. He won't want to be remembered as the PM that destroyed the union so will resist a vote during this parliament but the majority of Tory MPs will recognise that cutting Scotland loose is the only way they will stand a chance at the next election.

Mark Evans ● 2123d

Agree with David.

Janice Evans ● 2123d

I'm not going to read all these posts but who could blame him if he has? Its a shit job to have at the current time, a thankless task. I'm not excusing his mistakes but could you imagine the dream team of Corbyn and Abbott trying to deal with brexit and covid? We should consider ourselves lucky !

david ward ● 2123d

"We should consider ourselves lucky !"You are, of course, entitled to your opinion.

Ken Munn ● 2123d

It is pretty disgusting to make claim that Boris might have a drink problem, do you say that about your buddies you do know? I assume you don’t know Boris personally? As David said no one in government signed up to handle a deadly virus, Boris is doing his level best to keep people safe without destroying their livelihoods an impossible task it seems now we have a new variant of a virus that is highly contagious. I am fed up with people clearly not complying with the rules, daily in Chiswick we see a group of mums in the park with kids no one keeping their distance, walk down Chiswick high road people do not move away to keep distance etc, so if you want to blame anyone blame the stupid people who are not taking this virus seriously and following the rules.

Jayne Thorburn ● 2123d

Just so long as it is someone who has had a real job. Someone who in their youth has been a waiter or similar and worked in the real world. NOT a career politician.

david ward ● 2123d

Most of realise that when people resort to personal attacks it's because they are desperate and don't actually have anything to say.  It also highlights how good the opposition were ?

Janice Evans ● 2123d

On the Andrew Marr point....I attended a talk in Hammersmith given by Andrew Marr about 15yrs ago. He was asked about Boris who he knew quite well. He said people think he's a bumbling idiot but he was one of the brightest people he knew

david ward ● 2123d

Hear, hear!  We are in a very deep dark place with this very frightening virus threatening us ALL.  Not a single leader of any country in the World fully understood the ferocity of this particular Covid Virus.  The nations with more biddable populations have mastered it better perhaps. Here in the West, obeying the rules and when given the chance, get vaccinated - then still obey the rules.  Businesses, retailers, entertainers, restauranteurs have all taken enormous steps to make their premises as safe as they can, if only their customers abidded by the rules, we could have prevailed much earlier and many enterprises would not have been driven into bankruptcy.  No wonder Boris is looking exhausted = still feeling the debilitating effects of his earlier Covid infection, a new baby no doubt distrupting sleep, Brexit, and the new strain of Covid Virus!  I defy anyone not to look exhausted - he's what we've got so we need to support him, not cast slurs about him being a druggie and/or a drunkard!

Jennifer Selig ● 2123d

I agree that claiming Johnson may have a drink problem is quite unfair. Now he has been rumbled, his performance in answering questions is generally unconvincing, but nothing in particular on the Marr programme suggested he was one-over-the-eight. However, no amount of blaming mothers with kids in the park or pointing to other countries which haven't fared very well in coping with the virus will convince me that our PM is anything other than utterly incompetent and unfit for office. And as for those pathetic apologists who still comment how much worse things might be if Corbyn were PM.....

Robert Fish ● 2123d

You won't be rushing to get your vaccine then Robert ?

Janice Evans ● 2123d

I don't quite follow your logic.

Robert Fish ● 2123d

That's because there is none to follow there, Robert.

Keith Iddon ● 2123d

Nothing in that attack interview to suggest any drink problem. Andrew MarrInterrupted, waved sheaves of paper in the air an was, quite frankly, less than  respectful of the Countries  Prime Minister, ending up by proudly announcing that he is Scottish !

John Southey ● 2123d

I find Marr vastly overrated as an interviewer,he interrupts interviewees too much.I am surprised that some have not told him to allow them to finish their sentence or they would terminate the interview.

Keith Iddon ● 2123d

The Marr interview proved nothing about Boris Johnson having a drink problem. However, him turning up dazed and confused on his own at a regional Italian airport while he was Foreign Sectetary after three days of partying at Lord Siberia's pallazzo is another matter.

Francis Rowe ● 2123d

'Think he’s trying to cover up the growing baldness with his dishevelled don’t care look.'Yes, a distinct back to front comb-over yesterday.

Vanessa Smith ● 2123d

From Goldilocks to Baldilocks in 12 months.

Ken Munn ● 2123d

Or has he just got 'hopeless hair' as my niece calls it?

Anne England ● 2123d

Sounds like he was following the example of George Brown when he was Foreign Secretary - he was well known for being "tired and emotional" while on duty. What was that about us getting the politicians we deserve ?

Richard Greenhough ● 2123d

Richard Greenhough ● 2123d

As long as he doesn't try for the Trump look - the hairspray alone must be a significant contributor to global warming.

Richard Greenhough ● 2123d

No Mark Evans the info I have emanates from someone very well informed.

David Lovegrove ● 2123d

He thinks he's Hugh Grant. Bumbling, eccentric, Englishman. They both really get on my wick, but I think I'd prefer Hugh Grant as PM.

Stephen Gould ● 2123d

Yep, Love Actually brought to life! Although of course Grant is a torrid leftie so would be unlikely to win, the country prefers centrists.  Very funny comments, Ken and Richard!

Claire Moran ● 2123d

Happy to take your word for it David. It's entirely credible. It does beg the question why on earth he is still running the country. He doesn't bring any unique abilities to the role of Prime Minister and if he is physically debilitated he should step aside. It is a time of national crisis and we can't afford to have someone who isn't fit in charge of things.

Mark Evans ● 2123d

"I don't quite follow your logic."That'll be because there isn't any.

Ken Munn ● 2123d

Keith (and Ken), I hesitated to spell it out myself, or I would almost certainly have been accused of trolling!

Robert Fish ● 2123d

Robert, you said people out and about are not spreading the virus so you won't need a vaccination will you.

Janice Evans ● 2122d

Ive a hunch that Rishi will be running for PM whenever the oppotunity arrises while Kier will be fighting momentum once the covid crisis is over and its back to politics. They are waiting to take back control, not win an election.

Julian Pavey ● 2122d

Sorry, Janice, but how did you get that idea? I never said any such thing.

Robert Fish ● 2122d

You said blaming mums and groups in parks or similar Robert.

Janice Evans ● 2122d

Please read my post at 14.48 yesterday with more care, and you'll realise how you've completely misunderstood the thrust of it.

Robert Fish ● 2122d

Are you not saying we are blaming people out and about? Ignoring the rules but you would prefer we blame the P.M.  If not forget it go have a cuppa.

Janice Evans ● 2122d
