Not as radical in changes as Hounslow but worth checking all the same.Ealing has some street recycling banks which helps to reduce the amount of waste you might otherwise have over the holiday.

Thanks.  It is also a good time to reassess what you can and can't recycle kerbside and look up what is happening about Christmas trees.  Please don't leave anything on the pavement for anyone to trip over/narrow the pavement making social distancing difficult/making passage for buggies/wheelchairs/moblity scooters/children cycling new bikes etc

Jason,Do you know how to copy and paste on the iPhone - if you do it’s Really Easy to use long complicated links like Phillipa provided, but if you don’t it’s almost impossible.It’s really easy to do, you just need to know how to!

If you use the forum on new.chiswickw4.com it is much simpler to post pictures. Also easier to include hyperlinks so people don't need to copy URLs. While I'm on, thanks Philippa for posting the details about the revised collection dates. The calendar on the Ealing Council site tells people they are unchanged. Most of my neighbours put their recycling out on the normal day.

Ealing didn’t collect on Monday 28th even though it was listed as a collection day.

Ealing council shows you normal dates as that is what i read on the website under find your collection day.However,like i did, but so many wont think of this as many dont use search engines as that is what they are exactly for. You just have to type in your relevant wordsIf you type say in google "ealing council christmas waste collection" you get the answer to the information one needs right at the top in seconds.

Well, they left our bin uncollected and you can’t report a missed collection because the website is not working properly.

From what I could see they have left someones blue wheelie bin not because it was overflowing which is was not but because it was accompanied by some recycling boxes next to it. That being we have more than usual. If below is not the case they could have at least emptied the blue wheelie as it is not overflowing out.That is unless they are doing one side of roads only and will come back for the other side. Ive not had a look to that depth but it could be capacity and will return again for the other side. I have a hunch they will return

That's good.  They don't usually worry about extra recycling - they are more concerned about too much black sack/blackorgrey bin waste as it usually means that people are not recycling what they should be.It is still noticeable that many people have still not got the hang of flattening boxes or removing any expanded polystyrene packaging inside the boxes to separate that and put it in the residual waste bin.We don't make that much waste and choosing not to buy such heavily packaged goods and complaining when we find we have makes a great difference.  Roll on the circular economy.All the supermarkets now seem to have websites with lots of recipes for leftovers - some of which are better than the original meal and worth cooking extra for.  This year I haven't reminded everyone to make the most of that turkey carcase by boiling it up to make stock and bone broth/best of all soups.  It is a good time of year to be doing this especially with colds and flu around.  This year we just had a couple of chicken legs so I'm missing the stock as it takes quite a while to build up enough bones in the freezer to make it.There is still lots of info and advice on www.lovefoodhatewaste.org.uk.  If you don't have a food waste bin or any other bin find a friend with whom to share for a while.  Sharing means caring as my 6 yr old niece would say. You can order missing bins on the Councils' websites.

Sorry to hear that.  Glad you could book something.  I had a look the other day and wondered if they were going to be open.  Did they say why they hadn't collected?  Cardboard not small enough?  Not enough room today and the truck is full?

It looks like Ealing are no longer allowing tree collection at Acton Green any more although I suspect people will continue to leave their old trees there out of habit.  Given that Hounslow don't have have a local place to deposit trees for Chiswick - I suppose I will have to get in my car..or wait till mid January for a oollection. Any thoughts or ideas? Maybe the wonderful new traffic arrangements in Chiswick mean that it is too difficult to collect from.

Christmas trees are already being deposited (seems a bit early, those families have obviously decided Christmas is done and really I don't blame them) at the South entrance to Southfield Playing Fields (by Southfield Road).  They have always been collected from there in previous years, so unless there is a change I have missed, it would seem they will be again.

Every year is the same ... people are too lazy to do a simple google search ... all the information is easily obtainable on Ealing's website.The revised dates for the wheelie bin collection were available all through December and provided in an email ... and the instructions on Christmas trees are to put them out on your Black Bin day.PLEASE follow the instructions and leave them out ON YOUR PROPERTY.Try to navigate the pavements in a wheelchair with half a nordic forest laying about for a month is a game I tire of.Bedford Park and North of South Parade seems particularly bad at this ... there were piles of cardboard blowing about the streets from those who are just too lazy to check what day was recycling.

You seem to be falling into the same trap as so many other people and authorities etc., in assuming that everyone is on line!  They are not!  There are many many people who do not have smart phones and/or internet.

If you post here your online atleast. Bit like those who spend time posting for example a phone number when its available in seconds except you post it in a search engine rather than here and wait around for an answer. If your not online then davids post is irrelevant and you wont be reading it which is not the point david was making. It is those who are and dont know and ask I think the problem is people to often go to a relevant site and search and search spending time and can't find the info they want and give up where you should be putting what you are specifically wanting into a search engine to get the correct URL that directs you to the info you actually want. With council websites you can go around the houses back and forth and still not find that info It is never 100& perfect but id say most of the time if it is available you will find it that way. You just have to input the wording in the correct way to get that specific info up. In the case of Christmas collections for example it does the job. Instead of putting in Ealing council recycling days which your get the normal info, you add Christmas and to narrow it down more you add the year so you don't get last years info up. You want a stretched canvas for painting just put at first "where can I get a canvas for painting in Chiswick" and that alone brings up Turnham Arts & Crafts with all links and info on opening times and even tells you if it's open now and now states if its click and collect only or open to browse and tells you you need a mask to visit.Then you can visit the website and see what they have and how much Better than posting on here and waiting for an hour for someone to reply and then possibly get a half answer of possibly where and if its open or not. My tip of the day folks That is if you have internet but you wont be reading if you dont

Thanks Julian.  We are all at different levels of IT competence from none at all with no IT equipment to all sorts of different IT equipment of different ages.The Search facility on the Council websites generally works well although sometimes can cause problems eg the year I tried to get LBE's Christmas waste and recycling arrangements (I regularly chased them to get them out earlier so that anyone going away had plenty of time to organise.).  That year they had chosen not to put any up because the arrangements were the same as the year before - only they hadn't bothered either to change the date at the bottom of the page!  There was therefore no way to know as a resident whether this was the latest info or not and since it hadn't been issued in the current year who wouldn't presume it was just the previous year's! It was also easy for someone to tell me that yes the info was on the website. I haven't seen the latest magazine I presume it wasn't delivered.  There have been so many emails including the Covid ones that I haven't been able to keep up with those. I know I can look at it online but online isn't the same as a relaxed casual flick through... I understand that if we all moved to the new version of these websites we should be able to post pictures and maybe live links but the last time I tried to change it didn't work...

Christmas TreesBoth LBE and LBH have collection points in local parks so look them up to find one that is easy to get to.  It's a great excuse for a walk particularly good with the kids as a way of showing responsible disposal of the trees.  We've walked and dragged our trees along the pavement in the past.  It is sad to see Christmas trees being disposed of so soon after Christmas instead of at 12th night - the first one I saw discarded was on Boxing Day and I was sorely tempted to take it home, decorate it and enjoy it for the rest of the Christmas and New Year holiday.  We could have had a tree-share.  The great mounds of trees smell lovely but I find the sight of so many sacrificed and dying trees incredibly sad.There are also instructions on how to present your real Christmas tree for collection eg max size - no decorations etc, and on which days and for how long collection will be available.
