Doesn’t it count as essential because it’s providing food? We’re going in the hope it will be open. Boris said last night Tier 4 was akin to the November lockdown, and the food market was open throughout the November lockdown. We have to keep supporting our local businesses where we can so fingers crossed it’s open!

Food is classed as an essential activity, so the Food Market is open today.We have asked people to wear a facemask and been selling them at the entrance to anyone arriving without one for some weeks. Also asking that people shop singly for preference, and in no more than pairs and use the hand santiser available, we have been limiting numbers in the market to aid social distancing . The market will be closed next week 27th December and 3rd January. After that we will follow guidance issued.People need to buy food and many people feel safer doing that outdoors. Challenging times, thanks to those who support the market, please shop safely and quickly.

My friend, been gone shopped and now back with provisions.  Well done everyone involved.  Many thanks to all the traders and best wishes for how ever you manage to celebrate this very slimmed down Christmas.

After seeing the huge crowds on CHR and all the cars out, I honestly don't see why the market would have to close. Its just as busy outside as yesterday if not more. So fair game to the market. If the police are not going to do anything and the government rules tier 4 are so pointless ie. Click and collect!!. How on on earth do you expect people to stay at home as they are being encouraged to go go out shopping. The market is essential food as well and a lot safer outside rather than in doors in a crowded supermarket. Tier 4 is a instant shambles. Let people have Christmas.

I have been feeding up a turkey in the back garden in readiness for a Christmas blow-out with my chums, and when it got to 75lb throttled, de-feathered and gutted the noisy bastard on Friday, the day before Blustering Boris cancelled Christmas. Now I'm lumbered with a big pile of  feathers and a massive brute of a naked bird all to myself and the dog.
