My youngest son - who has been out of work since the first lockdown applied for a temporary Christmas job delivering for Royal Mail via 'Manpower' the agency they use. Out of the blue, ages after registering, he got a 'phone call to start the next day in Kilburn! He duly turned up to be sent out with another new starter who didn't come from that area either, they filled a van with parcels and off they set. No I.D. no sat. nav. no nothing, they did their best and what they couldn't deliver they returned to the depot. They were told to go in for one o'clock the next day, upon arrival there were no vans available due to mechanical problems so they were told they could walk a round, it was bucketing down but no wet weather clothing was provided as it's for permanent staff only, so provide your own and also bring your own sat. navs. Communication with Manpower which appears to be staffed solely by twelve year olds, is all but impossible and the staff at the depot didn't know what was going on either. SInce then my son has heard nothing, although he did receive a text from another agency about working at Twickenham office - he responded and again - silence! So much for privatisation!
