Closed Cycle Lanes CHR

Noticing the zero amount of work going on in the now closed cycle lanes on the Chiswick High Rd, is this going to be the new “status quo” from now on? Permanently closed full sized car/van/bus lanes, causing untold traffic delays, pollution, poor public transport services; etc... Does anyone have a clue with anything with these now abandoned cycle lanes?

WellSo much of it is big puddles and outside Wyndhams butchers is more of a paddling pool. Infact the bus stop raised curb had Disappeared the other day. Reminds me of the water jump in track and field. You cycle along into a puddle up the bus crossing and down the other side into a pool of water 6" deep

Ken Munn, I hear you. Much unbelievable amounts of money is wasted probably costing £100’s of thousands of pounds per day in the hire of manpower, machinery, etc... to make a mess of this once busy road that has become the unfortunate quagmire of a third world country.

Maybe Hounslow could do us all a favour and turn it back into a bus lane which served the majority of the community.

Mandy, I agree. I’m not a public transport user, but I 100% fully support public transport and London being in the world’s top five cities it should be FREE, and have all the lates technology to support its standards to be of the highest without delay or delay’s.

Very much hope that the lack of work on these unnecessary cycle lanes is a sign that they are due to be removed in the very near future, and we can all get back to having an appropriate and relatively congestion free link between the outskirts of the West and Central London. In the twenty five years I have lived in Chiswick I have never seen it looking so polluted and congested and overrun with roadworks as it does at the moment, and this is supposedly down to a minority looking to have a pleasant and 'green' environment for people to enjoy? Well, this is the result. People who need to drive will not stop, they will just find alternative, and often less appropriate, routes to take.

Getting the likes of Lambert,  Vine and Co to concede that there is even the tiniest winiest problem with C9 is not going to be easy even though they surely must have realised this by now.They have invested too much of their reputation in it and can't be seen to back down.Unless they can be negotiated of their own hook (JFK), as I see it, very sadly, there will need to be a few serious accidents before we see any change.

Rather than backing down, almost every day I hear of yet another road closure or new no right hand turn.  Chiswick Lane now I hear. The lunatics have indeed taken over the asylum.  I hear the words madness constantly. Cyclist, well the level headed ones, are not in favour.  Why can’t we stop this? I can’t bear to think of the money being spent, wasted,  and then spent again to undo it all when sanity returns.
