computer help please

Hi, a little green tick in a white circle has appeared in bottom corner of all icons in desktop and alongside all folders and files in a column headed 'status' Any idea what it is and why it suddenly turned up? Thanks for any help.

That means they are in sync with a drive so they are all available offline Do you have a cloud that you might have synced all your files to without knowing

Are you on windows 10 ? You may have hit the check button if not the above In file explorer top tab to the left your see a file and then a little further along your see view tab. When you hit this your get loads of options below. You will see "item check boxes" If that is ticked untick and restart pc. I say restart pc as i allways think any changes are better off with a reboot after making some change. If its not ticked then it will be where you have synced your icons or files.

Looked this up for onedrive if you have it but not sure about other drives like google1 Open File Explorer.2 Click on the View tab.3 Click on the Options button. Options on File Explorer.4 In “Folder Options,” click the View tab.5 Under the “Navigation pane,” clear the Always show availability6 status option. Oh yes Win key + E for file explorer if its not on your toolbar for quickness

Thanks Julian. It is windows 10. The 'item checked' box is unticked. Must admit I'm illiterate so dont understand much of the terminology. I suppose I'm only asking if it were something to worry about. As for syncing, I dont know what this is.I have already restarted and theyre still there.

Nothing to worry about whatsoever But refer to my 3rd post as onedrive is part of windows and that could be the issue. That is if it drives you round the ebnd You can use the Win key + E on your keyboard to bring up file explorer or in windows 10 it should be on your toolbar bottome left.
