There is already a cycle lane alongside the A4 - ample room, few side roads to cross. With some adjustments this could have been an ideal place to put the main cycling lane for east/west/east commuting. Chiswick Hi Rd, short of demolishing the buildings all along one side is simply NOT wide enough for wide boulevards for pedestrians, 2 bus lanes with safe and easy access for pedestrians and disabled etc., 2 segregated cycle lanes, ideally 2 dual carriage ways for motorised traffic, incl., motor bikes, cars, vans, delivery vehicles, emergency vehicles, and HGVs. Ideally this wide new road would have to be extended all the way into Hammersmith and on to - WHERE exactly?? Where is it to start from in the west, from Chiswick Roundabout? Or from Kew Bridge itself bearing in mind of course that the Bridge itself is narrow and the developers have already predetermined the road width along to Chiswick Roundabout. No wonder the magicians at Hounslow Council or is it TfL were and are not keen to undertake such a highly desired project - is it in fact highly desired? By whom?
