So far that is two temporary cycle lanes soon to be removed: Euston Road and now Kensington High Street.Per the article, KHS costs £700,000. I wonder how much was spent on Euston Road. In business we call that a loss.It will be interesting to see how the cycle lobby spins this as they waxed poetic about the "success" of KHS and clearly it was not. I know councillors and MP's in Kensington listen to their constituents. I also noticed they want "to help get the High Street moving again and give our local economy the best possible chance of a good December."In Hounslow, local businesses are nothing more than collateral damage in their reach to achieve an agenda.

£700,00 !!  Somehow I find that very hard to believe. If that's the going rate I think I'll start a company doing that work for a quarter of the price! They are only those thin posts and temporary to boot.As for Mr Vine's contribution - did anyone see his bit in the Mail on the weekend?  Mr very experienced cyclist - Jeremy Vine - managed to take a wrong turn and ended up taking the A4 flyover across Hammersmith at 5:45am on his way to work one day and wondered why it was so dangerous for cyclists. And he didn't know about it? Who is he trying to kid? Doesn't really do the cycling lobby any favours does it?

I thought the whole CS9 which is blighting our lives was sold on the basis of one cycle route into town well that’s argument doesn’t hold up anymore. Utterly ridiculous for Kew, Chiswick, surely a bus lane is far more important and used 24/7 than any cycle lane. There is zero justification for this scheme. In terms of cost nothing would surprise me I only commented the other day that the contractors must be laughing all the way to the bank. If Kensington and Euston road can overturn the cycle lane surely the wonderful folk of Chiswick can achieve the same.

Totally agree we waste so much money, I know budgets are by department but surely like any business when times are hard you review budgets....can you imagine how much money has been wasted across London and the country. Right now every penny should be spent on essentials areas. Not sure teacher pay increase would be appropriate right now the public sector has done oak during the pandemic Meaning they have a job & get paid. Private sector has taken a massive hit.

We travelled to Victoria Park yesterday, and had the (dis)pleasure of having to drive along the Euston Road. I thought the cycle lane had been removed from this area? It seemed to be very much in place, highlighting the complete craziness of these schemes. Literally crawling stop/start traffic moving by the side of a massive empty cycle lane that literally no one was using.I really hope and pray that Chiswick will follow suit from Kensington and other parts of London, and have this white elephant of a cycle lane completely removed at the earliest possible time. Yes, it will have been a terrible waste of money, but I believe it will save us all more money in the long run, taking into consideration lost revenues, local businesses, additional travel costs, etc.
