According to early bird Adrian:"As I passed at 8am this morning the roadworks had gone with traffic flowing in both directions."

It will be good to see your party shop, Party Plus, open again, Carol. I hope families celebrating together over Christmas will buy from you - in your shop or online. https://www.partyplus.co.uk Other shops along Acton Lane Various beauty/health: 2 Acton LaneParty Plus: 4 Acton LaneChiswick Camera Centre: 4 Chiswick Terrace, Acton LaneChiswick Security: 5 Chiswick Terrace, Acton LanePlanet Solutions computer repairs: 5a Chiswick Terrace, Acton LaneThe You Clinic: 6 Chiswick Terrace, Acton LaneG-Hair Force: 7 Chiswick Terrace, Acton Lane Chiswick Framing: 7a Chiswick Terrace, Acton LaneChiswick Dental Care: 8 Chiswick Terrace, Acton LanePure Barberism: Chiswick Park tube station, Acton LaneYuma Sushi: Chiswick Park tube station, Acton LaneChiswick Dog: Chiswick Park tube station, Acton LaneE&OE as usual

Carol - do you still have fireworks available?

It is good to see the road open but without again being the 'prophet of doom'. The no smoking and gas leak sign is still on the bridge just north of the latest works. Last time it sat there for a while before it was dug up. Expect more road works and more reasons to keep TGT open.

This location must be in the running for most dug-up road in London. It will always be at significant risk of closure. Add in the Fishers Lane railway underpass which has also been  prone to regular maintenance issues and the propensity for TGT to be closed for gas or water works and you have the essence of the traffic problem in this part of Chiswick. Remove one of these routes from the equation and the traffic flow on the others suffers badly. Remove two of them at the same time and the consequences are horrendous. As things stand today with Fishers Lane now closed to traffic possibly permanently, it would be reckless to even consider re-closing the Terrace. Let's hope the blindingly  obvious is equally apparent to the decision-makers.

Indeed, this is nothing to do with pro or anti cycling or any such nonsense. It is allowing traffic to flow, including those that need to make journeys by car and the huge amount of trade related traffic that flows around the area. Then of course we have all the building traffic that Empire House will generate for the next year, then additional traffic the new several hundred residents and expanded retail will create. As others have posted, Hounslow do not consider in any way where traffic goes. They seem to rely on a fantasy of traffic evaporation.
