Will New Lockdown Arrangements Affect Us?

Re today's new lockdown arangements, how will they affect Chiswick, including the Hounslow and Ealing boroughs who comprise it?  By 'us' I mean Chiswick and immediate environs.  Or will people carry on as before?  If so, what does that mean, were most living live as normal, or on the contrary, self-isolating, or somewhere between that?  If that, where did you draw your personal barriers/rules?

Georgina, your recent apparent pet loss doesn't seem to stop you posting your usual stupid comments.  And given your recent extremely unsympathetic posts to pet lovers on here, it's hard for anyone to sympathise with your apparent appeal for sympathy, which you do regularly, from not being able to access your TV programmes and wanting help with everyday life.  The loss of a pet is very sad but having seen your posts over the years I am much more sorry for a pet that has been owned by you than your crocodile tears about the loss of a pet. The appalling lack of sympathy to people with pets you displayed on the posts about animals and fireworks, accusing animal owners of 'mollycoddling' their animals instead of any empathy to our fellow creatures says it all, I am afraid.  If you were truly concerned about your dead cat, you would not be posting the kind of post you just have. Appalling.

Wow. I've been coming across a few Claire Moran posts today and just... wow. What vitriole. I don't know the history of the targets, but even so. It sounds to me like Claire spends too much time on Twitter. I think maybe it's time to give it a break. Twitter turns you bitter and argumentative about the smallest thing. Life is much more pleasant without it.

Claire you really should stop such nasty behaviour to Georgina who is struggling right now with the loss of her beloved cat. I would have thought being such an animal lover you of all people would understand the sorrow and sadness when they depart, it says more about you in not a pleasant light! As for covid, we have made the most of this year and will continue to do so which means being careful, follow the guidelines it really isn’t that hard if one accepts it for what it is a health pandemic. The likes of which none of us have seen, the priority is to keep safe, protect loved ones and the community, shop locally if you can not online, be kind to others so we all come out the other end.

Thank you Adrian, there are occasions on this forum when words fail me. I really enjoy a good discussion/debate but there is absolutely no need for nasty and rude behaviour. We all have our passionate subjects and sometimes strong views that will not be changed but let’s all show some humility & decency. These times are extremely hard for many people for various reasons surely that’s when we should all show strength in unity.

To answer the original question, the revised Tier 2 arrangements won't affect us that much. We'll at least be able to get our hair cut and have a meal out 'a deux'.  Social distancing in CHR has pretty well gone out of the window anyway but mask wearing seems pretty good. The real dilemma will be over the Xmas break when big decisions have to be made as to which extra bubbly households we can share the Yuletide activities with. Most friends and families normally do a circuit of several other households, which isn't allowed this time, so it might be better to remain in lockdown, claiming age and infirmity, to avoid the terrible rows and rifts I can anticipate at this time of goodwill!

Can someone tell me whether we will be able to go into a pub (that happens to serve substantial meals) and sit inside and have a couple of pints without having a 'substantial' meal yourself?

I suppose many of us have been sprayed with Claire's vitriol at one time or another. But Georgina is not an entirely innocent victim, who deserves our sympathy just because she's recently lost a much-loved cat. When Claire complained about fireworks and the distress caused to her pets, Georgina suggested she was guilty of "mollycoddling" them, which she must have known would be a red rag to Claire. And now she has dragged up a post of Claire's from several days earlier on a totally different thread, just to poke fun at her. She couldn't expect her status as a bereaved cat-owner to protect her from incoming fire.

I think you might be able to sit inside but probably not with another 'household', and be obliged at least order a meal, though I'm not sure if the regulations can force you to eat it.

Robert I disagree, pets react differently to fireworks, fortunately ours have been OK. I don’t think you can compare fireworks to the loss of a much loved pet. I opt to not sit in judgement of others and sadly Claire does post some rather nasty things. So they had a disagreement over fireworks that’s history, forget about it and move on I say. The loss of a pet deserves some sympathy it is heartbreaking.

Andrew I believe you can sit inside personally we won’t be doing that......what’s the point of potentially exposing oneself or others. Whilst I appreciate its hard not being able to gather with family & friends over Christmas is it worth any risk....hopefully come the spring there will be a vaccination program so we can all meet up again. I say stay home have an alternate Christmas, stay safe ready for a massive party once we are all protected, merry Christmas to all xxx

Personally I think given the protest in London tomorrow 28.11.2020 things will become increasingly more hostile. I believe people are becoming fed up with what is happening. As for Chiswick it will remain immune to the rest of the UK and people will continue as they have done during the entire lockdown wandering around, shopping, having take away coffees and just generally doing what they want. You fail to understand my post, Jayne, in several important aspects. First, we dont disagree over whether pets react differently to fireworks (although clearly a lot of them suffer obvious distress). Second, I never suggested that "you can compare fireworks to the loss of a much-loved pet".  My point was that it was either mischievous or stupid of Georgina to suggest that Claire's pets react badly because of mollycoddling. Given Claire's history of losing self-control, her adverse reaction might have been expected. And then Georgina's post on this thread, which didn't even pretend to be a response to the question Claire posed, can only be seen as a deliberate provocation. It wasn't Claire who failed to "move on", as you say, after the fireworks tiff - it was Georgina who kicked it all off again. It seems to me you are sitting in judgement, and failing to give Claire an even break because of her past intemperate outbursts.

Yes Robert.  Yours was the Prince Escalus speech from Act 1 of Romeo & Juliet – before he drags both Mongague and Capulet away to bang their heads together..I thought of writing similar an hour before you but soon thought far better of it..Family bereavement being a time for putting tit-for-tat grudges to one side and declaring a truce..Which made (even taking toothache into account)  Claire's cruel revenge attack sod awful timing!Beyond that, this spat has legs going back a long time.  And anyone unconnected should have the common sense to stay well clear.  Fair play or not, this is an ongoing war where angels should fear to tread - without a square inch of space for forum busybodies to intervene.Both Claire and Georgina are (in different ways) tough ladies who will now live to continue their fight another day..But I well understand, with many piling in on Claire, why your sense of justice got you to write as you did.  It would have made more sense for Claire's friend Loraine to have done this hard work hours earlier - and not wait for you and events to progress.  A pity that she was obviously otherwise engaged, miles away from her laptop and completely unable to say her piece.....

What is wrong with people so long as everyone follows the guidelines which clearly many are not we are in the middle of a health pandemic what is there to protest about? I for one do not want to catch the virus, or pass it on in the households, or to friends or community.  Come on people we can do this....... Now if there was a protest against LTN’s and cycle lanes that’s different 😂😂😂😂

The new arrangements will not change how I act much.  Shopping will be with a mask and generally will avoid people.  Only changes I will be making are going to the gym and going to a restaurant once a week

But, don't you see, Janice, I agree with Stuart - even if he does think I'm a fool who rushes in where angels fear to tread. I don't care for Claire's vicious outbursts, but I recognise provocation when I see it, and I hate to see lots of people (often ex-antagonists, e.g. Stewart Jones) queueing up to put the boot in.
