Apologies if this has been pasted elsewhere but if so it may serve as a reminder.  It is from an email I received last week:-  Two councillors - Cllr John Todd and Labour councillor Richard Eason - have called-in the Hounslow cabinet decision on Streetspace schemes throughout the borough and the decision will now be considered by the overview and scrutiny committee on 30th November.  You might like to email your views to the scrutiny office, the two cllrs calling in the decision and members of the scrutiny committee before 5 pm on 25 November.  The call-in does not include C9 as that is now subject to judicial review proceedings.  It will look at the closure, removal of parking and other aspects of Turnham Green Terrace, Devonshire Road, Fishers Lane, Duke Road, Dukes Avenue plus the South Chiswick Liveable Neighbourhood scheme, the decision to create more Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) in Chiswick in the next phase and, of course, schemes in other parts of the borough.  The five reasons for this call-in are: • Inadequate consultation with stakeholders prior to the decision• Inadequate evidence on which to base a decision• The action is not proportionate to the desired outcome• A potential human rights or equalities challenge• Insufficient consideration of legal and financial advice The deadline for submitting comments/questions to the scrutiny committee office is: 5pm on Wednesday, 25th November.Info on submitting statements and questions plus guidance for members of the public are in the explanatory guidance section here; the link also leads to the documents relating to this call in; the existing schemes; the map of LTNs to come, etc: https://democraticservices.hounslow.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=211&MId=12021&Ver=4Email addresses• Scrutiny committee office for which the deadline is 5pm on Wednesday, 25th November: scrutiny@hounslow.gov.uk • Cllr John Todd who has called-in the decision: john.todd@hounslow.gov.uk• Cllr Richard Eason who has also called in the decision: richard.eason@hounslow.gov.uk• Cllr Joanna Biddolph, scrutiny committee member: joanna.biddolph@hounslow.gov.uk• Cllr Komal Chaudri, scrutiny committee member: komal.chaudri@hounslow.gov.uk• Cllr Bandna Chopra, scrutiny committee member: bandna.chopra@hounslow.gov.uk• Cllr Adriana Gheorghe, scrutiny committee member: adriana.gheorghe@hounslow.gov.uk• Cllr Vickram Grewal, scrutiny committee member: vickram.grewal@hounslow.gov.uk• Cllr Afzaal Kiani, scrutiny committee member: afzaal.kiani@hounslow.gov.uk• Cllr Khulique Malik, scrutiny committee chairman: khulique.malik@hounslow.gov.uk• Cllr Ron Mushiso, scrutiny committee member: ron.mushiso@hounslow.gov.uk• Cllr Kuldeep Tak, scrutiny committee member: kuldeep.tak@hounslow.gov.uk

London Cycling Campaign have been playing a very smart game. Most people think they are just in favour of promoting cycling without any regard for other transport. In fact, their game plan is actually a lot more ambitious than that. They want to create so much traffic congestion that it becomes impossible to travel anywhere by car.Take our local activist Michael Robinson.I thought he was just arrogant prig when he keeps telling us how clever he is but actually I think he is quite smart (or whoever is in charge of strategy) - still an arrogant git with a too high opinion of himself but look at what he has achieved...C9 - winding up the anti C9 mob to campaign to save 3 trees and pavements. Result - get what you asked for and gridlock down CHR as C9 takes only the road.C9 - closing route to South Circular forcing more traffic to Chiswick RoundaboutC9 - gridlock on CHR forcing more traffic down Chiswick Lane to HogarthTGT LTN - perfect! more congestion - knock-on closure of Fishers Lane - more congestion - all time pushing traffic to roundabouts where congestion can really kick inGP LTN's - closing cut throughs to force more traffic to HogarthEven Running and analysing the GP traffic survey in 2019 that these changes were based on - how did that happen?Using impact of extra local traffic to wind up residents to support closure of exits on Barrowgate to SCR & Dukes to A4Maybe I credit MR with too much (I sure he doesn't think too much would ever be enough) but London Cycling Campaign are playing a very smart game of not just manipulating TfL and Councillors but also opposition into exactly what they want them to do.
