For Rima

Rima, we lived in Sutton Court for about 24 years. I remember someone else who also lived there - Steve Jones (I'm sure Colin Jordan will remember him). It was in the late 1980s, and he had a spot on LBC on Saturday mornings. He was also the compere of The Pyramid Game in the early 80s. He was a good bass player, and sometimes played (as the Steve Jones Band - I've got the t-shirt somewhere!), at the Sutton Court garden parties that we used to have fairly regularly back in the good old days.  Occasionally, he opened garden fetes held at the Old Vicarage, Elmwood Road, Chiswick. Some might also remember him for his colourful spectacles.

Great!Thanks for this.It seems that he hasn’t yet written a book so we can’t put him on the writers Timeline.If still in the area he isn’t a former resident unless former to Sutton Court ? but we should certainly be able to fit him in somewhere if he’s willing so I will let Torin know 🙂

I went for a walk in Kew Gardens with Steve last Thursday. I was the guitarist in the Steve Jones band, and we've been chums since his college days. He's doing fine, lives in Kew and currently has a music show on the internet station Scotland 69am. It goes out at various times, but I listen on Saturday mornings, 8-10.

Brilliant. Thank you so much.So he is now a notable former resident for that long list and has also written his autobiography “Lonely Boy : Tales From A Sex Pistol” 2017 so can also  be included in the Timeline of Chiswick writers.Last week there was a zoom meeting between Brentford and Chiswick Local History, Bedford Park Society and Torin who are all now up dating with new information which is going to take quite a long time!So we have to get our facts right and local residents are providing all the info 🤗

Sorry, Rima, there's still some confusion. The Steve Jones who is my old friend and who lived in Sutton Court for several years is not the same Steve Jones who was in the Sex Pistols. I don't know that one at all and have no idea where he lives (or lived).

Steve Jones of the sex pistols grew up in sheperds bush as did the drummer Paul Cook who today lives in Hammersmith and does a daily run along the thames path. Steve jones of the sex pistols now lives in LA and has a very popular radio show on KLOS,but has cut it back from 5 days to 1 due to a health scare So wrong steve jones but not far .

I’m sure Lonnie Donegan lived on Chiswick Mall in the 1970’s - not sure which house but the eastern end.

Yes he did!Dave Cousins of The Strawbs lived nearby and this is what he has said :-“ For a while Lonnie had a house in the Mall in Chiswick and I was living just round the corner. Went to see him, a beautiful house, with huge bay windows.While living in Chiswick, Lonnie regularly dined out at “La Rosetta” an Italian restaurant where he could sit at his usual corner table, dining alone with the piped music occasionally offering Lonnie Donegan’s greatest hits.” He has more to say so I will put the rest on the Notable Former Residents thread.Also since Lonnie wrote his autobiography he can go on the list of Chiswick writers.

Think daley thompson lived on the mail allso Others to note but not sure on books Nick Knowles (DIY SOS) and other tv shows lived with Suzi Perry (BT SPORT presenter and MotoGP expert) former F1 presenter and gadeget show both lived together on chiswick road but did not last.

I think Lonnie Donegan was actually living in Brentford Dock when he was frequenting La Rosetta in Brentford Market Place. He also used to drink in the Brewery Tap.

It’s likely that after he moved to the splendid house in Chiswick Mall, he still liked to go back to La Rosetta and find a few friends locally?Dave Cousins is a business man and he doesn’t usually get things wrong!

We’ve now been able to put Lonnie, Dave Cousins and Noel Gallagher down for the writers timeline since they have all written some books.Also Keith Richards who is still with us here in Chiswick. He has written a very good book about his experiences in Nigeria and is now writing a weekly blog about lockdown in Chiswick which I can highly recommend.The traffic and Turnham Green Terrace, Greggs have stopped selling sausage rolls.......Book “Never Quite the Insider” A Nigerian Memoir.chiswick confined - my corona weekly blog outsiderinside.co.ukchiswickcalendar.co.ukI might have got that right!

😂 yes she has. She lived in Chiswick for at least 18 years before moving to Wales and I used to often see her in TGT, sometimes coming out of Thornton Avenue with a yoga mat.Since she has also written some books she is about to be included on the timeline of Chiswick writers.

Thanks Tina.So it’s possible that his daughter Sinead and hubby Jeremy Irons could be still using the house in Burlington Lane when they are in London although they have other properties in Ireland, the US and more!That would account for statements in the press that they live in Chiswick!Sinead has contributed to writings so can therefore be included on the timeline of Chiswick authors.Still trying to find out where Anthea Turner lived in Chiswick before recently moving to Kew, for the same reason!
