What an absurd title for this thread!The Guardian article deals with cross party campaigning on behalf of tens of thousands of workers affected by the collapse of activity at Heathrow and Gatwick. This is not about support for airport expansion.If these adverse economic effects continue the impact upon local authorities such as Hounslow and Crawley will be a huge fall in business rate income, increased costs to authorities of additional support needed by families affected by unemployment, and an inevitable sharp increase in local council taxes to meet budget shortfalls.

Course is not an absurd title, you idiot.Hounslow has actively campaigned against Heathrow although it provides the jobs for a huge abound of people. I'm not for the expansion of LHR but I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of Hounslow Council policy.

Hounslow don't know which way to turn when it comes to Heathrow. They say they're against expansion but haven't joined with Hillingdon, Richmond, Wandsworth, Windsor & Maidenhead and Hammersmith and Fulham as well as the Mayor of London in the legal battle to stop the 3rd runway.
