Never tire of seeing Michael McIntyre, I think he is genuinely funny, his routines make me laugh a lot as well as being  charming and always polite, while avoiding the very difficult challenge comedians have today with the still sexist, dirty and deeply unfunny jokes that some so-called 'comedians' still spout that sadly the witless still seem to like.

And every one of them with something to sell. I hear the unmistakable sound of barrels being scraped.

Well of course, that's why they turn up.  As per Hugh Grant last night.  Or authors doing book tours. It's called business. And it's where business and entertainment will always coincide.  They are mutually dependent.

At any given period of a few years, there is always a clique or coterie of 'entertainers' who appear on each others' shows, laugh helplessly at each others' jokes and line each others' pockets with the fees. I'm guessing they probably get the work through a small group of agents who themselves know the right people at the BBC and the commercial channels. It's just part of the business known as 'show'.

Of course Jonathan Ross is an ITV show, but don't let facts stop your BBC bashing.

I ceased watching rubbish like this years ago, couldn't agree more about Ross or less about McIntyre.

I couldn't detect any BBC bashing so far. Colin just referred to " the BBC and the commercial channels." It's the way chat shows work; all that changes is what product is being promoted. In normal times JR would probably have had a proper "star" or two pushing a Holywood movie, but now all the producers have to choose from is home grown D listers with something on the telly or a book to plug. The BBC and the commercial channels are more than happy to rub each other's backs in this regard - they even make the shows in each other's studios.

Rarely watch chat shows, find them boring.

Janice Evans ● 2167d

How is it that Graham Norton gets consistently better guests and I have often found myself laughing out loud, whereas JR.......zzzzzzzz

Julian Pavey asked" Why oh why do they roll out the same people all the time."Apparently it's all to do with them having the same agents.Or at least so I was told some years ago. Its why certainpeople never seem to appear on say "Have I got News For You"but do turn up on other shows. Or at least so I was told. michael adams

Claire Moran explained "Never tire of seeing Michael McIntyre "Nice story from his book. As many people may be unawareMcIntyre struggled for years to get a break. And his new in-laws weren't best pleased to learn that their daughter was planning on marrying an impoverished wanabee comedian.Things weren't helped when on their first visit to thenew marital home/flat, they found McIntyre in the kitchen, fully fitted out with white plastic garden furniture, eating a hearty breakfast of Tesco Value Corn Flakes.michael adams...
