Commonplace Survey Results for Chiswick Town Centre  - Massive rejection of Hounslow Council schemes

Have you seen the One Chiswick facebook page.  It references analysis of the recent Chiswick Town Centre on Commonplace which closed on 8 November.It says that 98% of respondents want Turnham Green Terrace reopened, 98% want the Staveley Rd barrier removed, 95% want Fishers Lane reopened and 83% want Devonshire Rd reopened.  From what is said it appears that someone has gone through all the entries and looked at what has been written.  That looks like overwhelming evidence that the changes should be reversed based on a survey set up the Council and Commonplace which usually tries to limit objections.  Bravo to the person who did the work.Hopefully the Council will listen to the results of their own survey.  As the note says it follows on from a petition to support the reversing of the changes last week.

ChrisMany thanks for that data but absolutely no surprise, LB Hounslow's despotic and undemocratic schemes are quite frankly unforgivable, yet they blame Grant Shapps. Absolutely not true, LBH did not have to accept, yet they chose to - why was that ?Perhaps some6cpuld provide the answer  ?

Debunks the argument that there’s a majority, silent or not, in favour of the road closures. The software has been cleverly misrepresented as consultation- it’s more about identifying hotspots where a deeper dive can then take place. It’s not fit for much more in its current form. But I think a lot of people have woken up to its patent weaknesses and flaws, and still posted their views nonetheless. After all, there’s not much else on offer. The ‘Haveyoursay’ survey websites that Hounslow are running are even worse. And as for any  direct consultation/feedback via our local elected, well it’s all falling on deaf ears, as we saw last night.

Pretty clear that if you go and look at the results on this Council led survey, the overwhelming response is against the traffic measures that Hounslow Council has put in.  Not surprising at all, Hounslow Council worked with their ten or so mates in London Cycling Campaign - Hounslow Branch to put in, before anyone knew what was going on and now everyone has worked that out rightly they are voting against.  The schemes don't work - what a waste of time and money.Time to reverse the changes if people are overwhelmingly against in my book.  Go to the page to see the evidence yourself.https://chiswicktowncentre.commonplace.is/schemes/proposals/have-your-say-on-chiswick-town-centre/details

Anyone had a look at cycling fanatic Jeremy Vine's Twitter feed?  Bet he is sorry he asked whether cycle lanes should be done away with. 99% of respondents said they should.

You probably need to ask whether threatening to shoot someone is worse than trying to organise a boycott of businesses that don't share your views about cycle lanes and road closures. Mr Mabbutt is clearly a first grade idiot but probably doesn't even own a gun and will no doubt be claiming his comment was made in jest. Nobody got shot but there is a real world impact of depriving businesses of revenue at a time when their survival is marginal. On balance my view is that the shooting threat is worse but neither kind of behaviour should be acceptable.It's probably best not to characterise either side of the argument by the worst of its proponents.

the council, the councillors, the MaMils and anyone associated with " we love chiswick as it is  but YOU have to change " and anyone asssociated with this charade should simply look at this one response and realise the actual physical and  mental harm they are doing to indvivuals, let alone anyone trying to run a business,,,,,.....Describe an ideal future Chiswick town centre in a sentence or twoI have mobility issues but like many do not have a Blue Badge. You have made it impossible for me to shop in Turnham Green Terrace now by closing off the street to motorists. How is this going to help the shopkeepers. LEAVE CHISWICK ALONE.How could we make it better?Just give it a rest. It was fine before you started messing with it and closing roads.Other comments about the future of the town centreI have shopped in Chiswick for 40 years and was happy to continue doing so. You have now made it a nightmare and you are responsible for more pollution than ever by closing off various roads.
