It's daft. It should be specific rather than all encompassing and should be focusing on the major problem areas —  otherwise it loses impact.

I note that Cllr Biddolph has signed despite stating that she would not interfere with measures outside her own ward.Perhaps she could take a trip to Riverside ward and tell residents of Wellesley Rd and Stile Hall Gardens why she wants those streets to be opened up to through traffic again.

Ah you mean that people who like a quiet and peaceful street will change their minds and want nightly queues of traffic again?I'm just pointing out another example of Cllr Biddolph's duplicity.When I pointed out that her anti-cycleway 9 petition last year also opposed the closure of Wellesley Rd and Stile Hall Gardens she claimed she didn't know that and she would never interfere in matters in another ward.Then a couple of weeks later she interferes with matters in another ward...  If she is going to do that then she should at least be honest and tell residents in those streets why she wants them opened up to through traffic.

do hope more people signing this important petition.  It's true that maybe they should have been bit more specific about which closures to be reversed, but these things not perfect and will make the vital point.

Wellesley Road should be reopened but Stile Hall Gardens should be left as it is.

I'm sure the residents of Wellesley Rd would love that. Wellesley Rd is so narrow there is pavement parking and that means hardly sufficient room for people particularly with wheelchair or buggy.  Unsurprisingly some think that people in cars are far more important than people not in cars.I believe the plan for Wellesley Rd is to remove the pavement parking and widen pavements so opening up to through traffic won't happen.

Michael - you refer to this petition as "pointless". So what would you suggest as an alternative means for local residents to demonstrate their disapproval of LBH's road closures ? No-one in Chiswick is able to vote out the Labour councillors who run LBH, so there is no obvious democratic alternative.You know perfectly well that it is not the Wellesley Road/Stile Hall Gardens closure that is the main cause of complaint; if you wish to offer an alternative wording for the petition that excludes those roads, feel free to do so - that would be more constructive than picking holes in other resident's views.

"It should be specific rather than all encompassing and should be focusing on the major problem areas"Precisely the shortcoming of all polling and "consultation" results which are then portrayed as data.You know as well as anyone, Rob, if it were specific plenty would jump on that bandwagon and twist it to mean there was support. This man deserves no support for silencing this constituency. One would think local government allowed for proper representation, not some sham of a game. I'm not sure what the mechanism is for assembling Cabinet, but one would think each borough would be represented in that Cabinet to give balance and achieve the best for all of Hounslow.

There is a statutory 6 month consultation for the Experimental Traffic Orders  on the Hounslow website and people can respond to this  (this shouldn't apply to Wellesley and Stile Hall as the consultations for these have already been done)I'm not a mind reader so haven't a clue what is the main cause of complaint of the person who created the petition.  I can only read what they have written which is "reverse all changes made to streets in Chiswick since April 2020.".As for demonstrating disapproval, given the funding and guidance to councils was provided by national government, they can vote for a different government in 2024, assuming there isn't an election earlier.The measures were aligned with the Mayor's Transport Policy, so they can vote for a new Mayor in 2021.  The measures were aligned with the borough transport policy so they can vote for this in 2021 as well.While Covid has accelerated things dramatically, measures like Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and protected cycling are not new and were already in the transport policy.  It looks like the Chiswick councillors were completely asleep at the wheel when the borough transport policy was developed in 2018/2019 and I don't think they contributed anything to this.

Signed. Like others, I really hope people don't take the attitude of 'it won't do any good, so I won't bother.' Honestly, the more people who speak out about this the better. I would always try and avoid voicing an opinion or getting into any sort of confrontation on this forum, until now. However, all these changes have had a huge impact on the Chiswick, as a whole, and as someone else posted earlier on the Southfield forum, it has had more of an impact on my own personal mental health than any other aspect of this virus. The fact that the new cycle lanes remain largely empty says it all - they are not needed, and never were. Please can we bring an end to this madness?

Apart from venting one's rage ranting on this forum really doesn't achieve anything much.  Emails, letters, phone calls have to be blasted at the Government, all Ministers, Boris himself and our MPs telling them all of the destruction these unnecessary road closures, are having on our daily lives and our mental health.  Far from  helping the people, the crazy insistence of installing unused bike lanes where there simply isn't any room and closing off roads etc etc. is ruining entire districts.  They must be rescinded NOW and the "bribe" money given to Councils withdrawn immediately.
