Tree Surgeon

Can anyone recommend a tree surgeon?Need a report doing on a tree that is on Network Rail's land overhanging our car park. A large branch broke off and fell onto our car causing over £3.5K damage and they are denying liability / negligence. Want a report on the state of the tree if I want to take legal action against them.Thanks

Yesterday I saw a lorry bearing the company name ‘Tree Mend Us’.  No idea if they are any good but I had to smile.Many years ago we had good service from The Tree Company, based in Hounslow.

Just be sure that the person you are engaging is a qualified arboriculturalist The term "tree surgeon" is a bit of a catch-all. Since you have so much at stake don't risk not getting the right person - you can be sure that Network Rail's lawyers will be looking for any chink in the armour. Just searching for "arboriculturalist" or "tree surveyor" will bring up plenty of candidates. Check they have appropriate qualifications. I would have thought that your car insurer would be keen to advise as presumably if Network Rail won't pay then they will have to.This website is useful too.https://www.trees.org.uk/Find-a-professional

I would highly recommend Tom Boswell. I would avoid Brighter Outlook Tree Surgeons as, as Ken stated, their communication is sadly lacking. He never replies to emails/calls and neither do the various females who answer his company's phone and take messages, ever get back to you. After his initial quote, due to the poor communication, I eventually went with someone else.

I managed to get him eventually but it took a lot of chasing.  Good thing was though that they didn't invoice me for a couple of months!  Did a good job and more competitive than others which is probably why they are so busy. A few years ago I met and had quotes from several, and of the ones I (a) liked and thought would do a good job and (b) were reasonably competitive, the other one I would recommend is The Tree Clinic – Andrew, 07870 501893.  They did a good job and cleaned up thoroughly so either of those would be my choice next time.

In the interests of clarity/transparency I continue to be extremely happy with Brighter Outlook and recommend them. They’ve done our trees this year and also removed an absolutely enormous diseased tree and stump for my immediate neighbour with complete perfection. I 100% recommend them as can personally vouch for their professionalism, extremely knowledgeable expertise, ability to work in the private home environment and clear up the inevitable mess to my (somewhat exacting) standard...all for a fair price. I will concede to the fact that Joe can be a little slow to respond but I’ve found that to be the case with most excellent service providers because they’re inundated with work. He’s definitely worth the wait!
