Former Fulham, Putney and Hammersmith serial Killer.
Following my supplying New Scotland Yard with information regarding Abertillery double child killer Harold Jones in 2007, I received a letter from Detective Constable Paul Rogers who conducted a rigorous 3 month investigation into Jones who had lived at 3 different locations in London using various aliases. Part of a letter I received from D.C. Rogers in September 2007 stated: ' My enquiries are now complete and have led me to conclude that Harold Jones would have have presented a danger to young girls throughout his life [until 1971]....All relevant information relating to Harold Jones has been passed to South Wales Police who are currently in the process of making further enquiries into the death of Muriel Drinkwater.' D.C. Rogers also informed South Wales Police that he suspected that Jones may have been the killer of Cardiff girl 6 year-old Carol Stephens. On Sunday 8 November there will be a 50 minute episode regarding Carol's murder entitled 'Dark Land' B.B.C.1 has just given a press release regarding Carol's murder. In part it states: In this episode of Dark Land, the team reinvestigates the murder of Carol Ann Stephens, making one bombshell discovery that leads them to identify a new prime suspect, and takes them to the brink of cracking a cold case that has long cast a shadow over Wales’ capital city.' Regarding the episode dealing with Muriel's murder the B.B.C. 1 press release states: 'In this episode of Dark Land, the team applies modern day forensic techniques to the available facts. What they uncover edges Muriel’s killer closer to being identified and provides answers to at least some of the questions that her family have been asking since the day she died.' I was invited to take part in the investigation of Muriel's murder but I declined. Oddly, Muriel's niece Margaret from West Wales was also invited to contribute to the documentary and although she agreed to she was not contacted again. It will be interesting to see what these 2 episodes reveal.
