When does British Summer Time end

At 2am on the last Sunday in October, the clocks 'fall back' by an hour On the 25-10-2020Instead of turning the clocks back an hour, can we turn them back a year and get rid of the virus.

We shouldn’t ever change the clocks. If people want to get up earlier in the summer, fine. Just don’t make the rest of us do it.

It would be better to slide slowly Into winter rather than suffering the shock of finding it dark an hour earlier from one day to the next.  So depressing and even more so this year.  The time change also messes with the body clock.

Is it the case that the countries in the EU won’t be changing their clocks any more within the next year or so?If it is, and the UK carries on with the twice yearly change it will make it interesting in Northern Ireland.

Today, approximately 70 countries utilize Daylight Saving Time in at least a portion of the country. Japan, India, and China are the only major industrialized countries that do not observe some form of daylight saving.

Plenty of countries exist with more than one time zone within their territory - the USA and Canada, to name but two. In the unlikely event that Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic ended up with different times, I am sure they would be able to manage.

I’m sure they’ll manage as well, but it will still be interesting (if it happens) as it’s not something we’ve experienced with our land frontier neighbour before.Or will we wait to see what Ireland does and then follow suit?

I think it's high time we scrapped it. Apart from anything else, it's one of the most depressing days of the year, and at the present time we can certainly do without more reasons for depression.

In 2019 the EU voted to stop daylight saving across the continent in 2021. So ahead of your thinking. Each country will decide whether it sticks with summer or winter time. There are already multiple time zones across Europe so that won't be a problem. The UK being outside the EU can do what it wants one presumes.

We are all pretty much awake during all the daylight hours in the winter. Changing the clocks does not produce more light, but takes away the gradual changes that happen anyway, so it comes as a shock.

I lived in France in the mid-70s and they took our bi-annual clock change as yet further proof that the English were mad ... until they started doing it themselves.
