Drain engineer - recommendation needed

We called out Pimlico to deal with a blocked drain. They have identified broken pipes and worn manholes...and quoted to repair what could be causing leaks in our basement...a sizeable quote...can anyone recommend an alternative drain specialist to quote also? Thanks

We had a cracked pipe causing a leak in our cellar and we claimed on the insurance for it with no problems.

As you mention manhole covers — is the problem in the street? If so it may be Thames Water's liability. Also if it's a shared drain then (I think) Thames have to pay whether it's on your land or not.  Worth  checking before shelling out.

Yes do check that with Thames Water.  I am pretty certain all Main Drains are owned by TW but the smaller individual drainage pipes from your property into the Main Drains is your responsibility.  Many households have those smaller feeder pipes covered by their own household insurance policy.    TW own the Main Foul Water (sewage and dirty water from loos, baths, wash basins etc) Pipe.  Additionally, TW own the uncontaminated Main Clean Water (rain water from roofs and the road gutters) drainage Pipe here too the feed pipes from your property into the large one is usually your responsibility.  Check your household insurance policy.

I may be cynical, but they may have the same policy towards fixing drains, as LBH do to cancelling erroneous PCNs in the 1st instance!
