I remember Love Me Do very clearly. I know exactly where I was, in December ‘62, when I heard it for the second time and was smitten. In Spring that same year Bruce Channel had had a hit with Hey Baby which also featured a glorious harmonica riff and I think that song had sort of ‘primed’ me for the Beatles’ early sound.I went to the original Liverpool Cavern on several occasions but it was just after the Beatles had got too big to play there - saw the Escorts, Swinging Blue Jeans, the Big Three etc. The first time I was nearly turned away at the door for wearing jeans ffs, but the doorman took pity on me and let me in. Happy days.
