Support Devonshire Road and TGT traders - they need you !

The road restrictions are having a devastating effect on these businesses, especially after the Covid-19 lockdown.LB Hounslow (supported by the cycling lobby) couldn't have implemented these restrictions at a worse time.To the good residents of Chiswick please go to Devonshire Road and TGT to show your support for these long standing independent traders to do your shopping and use their services.Thank you 👏

We supported local business yesterday by having set lunch at the new Sicilian restaurant in TGT .  Good value meal plus free Prosecco! Also an interesting full menu and evening 'tasting' menu - and they do breakfast! Then there's the Picture Framer and the fish guy and the butchers, and... Shame they can't do something to cut down the traffic!

Why, what has the traffic got to do with it? I assume you were not sat in the carriageway. I used to go to Charlottes and liked the bar, never felt bothered by traffic even in summer. And the 'closure' was never going to remove much of the traffic, including vans and buses. So again, what is the point?

PaulSome people subscribe to the 'I'm ok Jack'theory with little  or no regard for the bigger picture.I can only wonder how the same people will feel when there's only restaurants and coffee shops on our streets, as in no fishmongers, butchers, dry cleaners, picture framers, electrical shops and even charity shops ? Diversity and choice is vital to a vibrant community

Can't beat a good bit of irony! Not to be confused with sarcasm?! Perhaps I was relying too much on an exclamation mark to do the work. The most tiresome aspect of tacking along TGT to 'support local businesses', which used to be called 'shopping', was negotiating two lines of semi-moving traffic and a row of parked cars, plus Macken's vans on the other side, and the narrow pavements. The purpose of the 'closure' was to try and improve all this, which it's singularly failed to do because of inadequate design and the blinkered approach of so many drivers. Time to call it a day - with the closure, not the shopping!

Last night at rush hour I was watching the traffic up and down the High Road (note to Guy Lambert: rush hour the traffic is horrible).As you head west on CHR and come to the light at TGT, there is a clear "no left turn" sign posted facing east so all oncoming traffic can see it. There is no such sign for turning right. The only sign forbidding the right turn, if you know precisely where to look, is on the far side of TGT and it faces Annandale. Countless cars approached the intersection in the far right lane expecting to be able to turn right on to TGT. Some did. But some must have seen the sign past the intersection as they then suddenly veered into the left most lane to avoid heading north on TGT. Why is the signage not visible in the direction of travel while on CHR? Why must you turn in order to see the sign that says you can't turn? Bit of a bait and switch, that one is.It is a lesson on precisely how to cause a traffic jam.

Yes, if Hounslow wants to persist with this experiment they should make the signage coming from Hammersmith direction better - perhaps having a traffic must go straight forward sign (with an exception plate for traffic that is permitted to turn right) would be clearer.There isn’t a no right turn sign because *some* traffic is permitted to turn right, but the presence of the no left turn sign and lack of corresponding no right turn sign is suggestive that All traffic can turn right ... and if you are stationary at the traffic lights you can’t see the ‘flying motorcycle’ sign because of obstructions and it only becomes visible once you’re in position to start your right turn.Might be legal, but it is misleading (and I speak as someone who is aware of the restrictions and was specifically looking to see how good the signage was)
