Thanks for the heads up.I really feel for the many independent traders on Devonshire Road, who are really suffering because of LB Hounslow's actions.Shame on you LB Hounslow !

Possibly they have been given a nudge after the report on this site showing that only 45 PCNs had been issued so far on this road. That is probably partly down to the signs being much clearer and very few people using the road who are not local but it does also suggest enforcment is patchy to say the least. Presumable a local on seeing a van would know to pull up and get out of their car to avoid a PCN.

I know you are able to turn right on to Prince of Wales.Can you also turn right on to Glebe Street to get to the surgery or to get home for that matter?

"Can you also turn right on to Glebe Street to get to the surgery or to get home for that matter"No, you cannot turn right into Glebe Street if you have entered Devonshire Road and have not stopped (e.g. for loading) or to pick up your car from Capital Motors.This is a real inconvenience to residents of the Glebe Estate, particularly as you cannot now turn from the High Road into Duke Road.

A lot of local residents are massively inconvenienced by the road closures, causing more congestion & pollution whilst they navigate the one way system. Locals should be able to use the roads in their area and not have to complete a detour utter madness and clearly a revenue generating exercise! appalling behaviour by Hounslow council but as it has already been said they don’t care and the councillors have failed in their duty to look after the local residents.

So I'll be fined if I turn right out of Glebe St to drive a few yards of Devonshire Rd to turn into Annandale Rd to leave the Glebe Estate. But I'm ok if I turn left out of Fraser, drive up the narrow, residential section of Devonshire Rd & then take the turn-off to Annandale? Completely crazy, but as the behaviour of & recent comments by both Hounslow Councillors & our charming MP indicate, my opinions as a Chiswick resident are meant to be ignored. Does anyone know yet how long we have to spend in Capital Motors before being safe from a fine for turning back into Devonshire Rd?

Why guess? What signs are there at the end of Glebe where you enter Devonshire, besides the existing 'Turn Right' indications? According to the official description of the scheme, the 'closure' applies to Devonshire between its junction with CHR and Glebe. That means you should be able to turn right in the way you describe without being fined.

You can't turn right into Glebe Street from Devonshire Road.As far as I know, if you go to Capital Motors and then turn right into Devonshire Road, that is allowed and then you would be allowed to turn into Glebe Street. The low number of fines probably reflects that “they” are only issued when there is a camera van sitting in a parking place, whereas, super centrally  controlled cameras are operating on TGT. . Why does it seem that the old complaint about Hounslow and Chiswick is rearing again and WHO is this guy lambert ? I do not think we are well served by our MP either,

"It's complete madeness and very badly signed." Another road that is either very badly signed...or has been very badly assessed for suitable speed limit signing, is Dan Mason Drive. From the railway bridge to A316 it is clearly signed as 30 mph: this seems a staggeringly high limit given the road circumstances and conditions. The opposite direction the speed limit is 40mph (!!! huh??? !!!) ie a closing speed of 70 mph. Is that REALLY sensible??? The Conservative councillors have not said a word about this for over 6 months as far as I can tell so do they think it is suitable? I quite realise that no driver or cyclist should go faster than is safe, or should proceed further unless it is safe to do so....but surely 70 mph is giving entirely the wrong message? Or have I got this wrong?

The other day, because the council has closed Devonshire Road and Duke Road to traffic onto the Glebe Estate, in order to get home to Glebe Street I had to do a diversion round Linden Gardens so I could go back on myself to go left onto Dukes Avenue then round the houses as is our new ridiculous normal. Whoever has made these decisions about Chiswick is going to kill the place but presumably they don’t care as long as they’re still able to use W4 as a cash cow for fines and other revenue to prop up the rest of the borough. It would be good to know who has been responsible for all of this so I know who not to vote for next time we have the chance to be ‘heard’ (in parenthesis because I’m not sure anyone really listens to what we want now). I have never felt more disenfranchised than I do right now. It’s lunacy.

I never thought of that, to get to Dale St the other day I had to come down Acton lane onto Sutton Lane Nth, Heathfield Terr onto Sutton Ct Rd. Left onto Wavendon Ave, left onto Dukes Ave, right onto Bourne Pl, Right onto Duke Rd to get to Glebe St then down to Dale St. Utterly ridiculous. Now THAT surely has to be called rat running. All that instead of just going down DR to Glebe st and Dale st to get to my customer

That was because there was a temporary no-right-turn from the eastbound High Road into Dukes Avenue while works for the cycleway were being done at that junction.  The no-right-turn was lifted yesterday.

Two things, Richard.One: you're missing the point that the entirety of the Glebe estate must use only one access now. Residents, parents headed to school, deliveries. All on tight roads with blind spots.Two: Time is money for a businessman like Chris. So the more difficult you make it, the less time he has to make money. I'm sure Paul, a self-proclaimed rich man, will see this as a small price to pay. But there is still no clear plan for business deliveries to these areas. Other than your support for rat-running that is.

Two things, David.One. "the entirety of the Glebe estate must use only one access now."  Not true: you can access the Glebe Estate either from the south-east (into Fraser Street from Hogarth Roundabout and Devonshire Road) or from the north-west (into Duke Road via Dukes Avenue and Bourne Place ).Two.  I was merely pointing out that the ridiculous nature of Chris's journey was caused by a temporary restriction that had now been lifted.  Not sure why you think that I support rat-running.

We have disabled parking for our disabled mother.By what means can we enter Turnham Green Terrace or for that matter Devonshire Road safely and avoide being fined?I mean if we enter Turnham Green Terrace and park.. how will the camera know we are disabled-parkers?Also.. as disabled parkers how lonmg are we allowed to park on these roads for shopping?

I just hope one day you can see how idiotic it is for folks who live on the eastern side of the Glebe estate having to travel up an increasingly congested High Road to do a giant U-turn to get home.Not to mention your steadfast refusal of not being able to provide clear guidance for any businesses doing deliveries whilst in the next breath you go on about having things delivered.Residents on Prince of Wales are able to access their homes off of Devonshire but those who live immediately behind them are unable to do the same. So if they are headed west up the High Road to get home, one neighbor can be home far sooner and in less distance than the other whilst the other burns more fuel and contributes more to pollution because you think it's a good idea. Despite the neighbors sharing a fence.You do realize it's your support of this scheme that is increasing pollution, not the people who are still in need of getting home, yes? I'm sure they would like to be home sooner but Philippa and Richard say no, please stay in the car longer, drive further, consume more fuel and get home later. I just hope you can read a map.

According to the regulations for the TGT closure, there's an exemption for when.."g) the vehicle is displaying a disabled persons’ badge and accessing with the intention of parking in a disabled parking bay in Turnham Green Terrace." 'How will they know' is another story and could be besides the point, for if you don't find a parking space and have to drive straight through, you could still be meeting the 'intention' terms of the exemption but might well get a camera ticket, which you'd then have to refute.

There is also another route, though not quite as bad but still what I'd call rat running.I would have to come down Goldhawk Rd, right onto CHR, Left onto Brackley Rd Right onto Swanscombe Rd, Left onto Devonshire Rd, Right onto Fraser St then Right onto Dale St.All this when I could just come down TGT through to DR then right onto Glebe St. I just don't see the sense in these closures it just puts more miles onto a fairly simple journey for me. Luckily I have a new van now with start stop technology so standing in traffic doesn't contribute to emissions but all this running around the houses does and I am fairy surprised as doesn't Richard live on the Glebe estate?

Also, there is still a no right turn sign at the junction of CHR and Dukes Avenue, and there is a camera on that junction, so although it may weok be that the sign refers to the no right turn onto Duke Road, it wouldn’t surprise me if Hounslow decided to get people doing this right turn, because they can. As a result, tonight I did the Linden Gardens u-turn and left onto Dukes Avenue to get to Glebe Estate because I didn’t want to risk a ticket from this junction, too. Hounslow have made half a million pounds from TGT alone - they clearly know they’re onto a good thing and have found an easy way to screw further revenue out of us.The whole thing shows a disgusting disregard for Chiswick residents.

I went along the High Road today and was shocked at how narrow the new carriageway is with the new road markings. The full CS9 has space for the right turn into Dukes Av, but the new temporary version has no room for the right turn. So every vehicle turning right will hold all traffic behind it. Expect much horn blowing and frustration. I suspect that TFL and Hounslow will indeed then ban the right turn. What fun.

Paul, it is sad how funny you seem to find the challenges local businesses face with the new measures and the congestion/ detours they cause. As I posted on this thread, the new v narrow carriageways for CS9 mean any right turn vehicles into Duke Av will block all High Road traffic. Given the likely delays, I suspect the right turn will indeed be banned, making it hard for residents to get to their homes or trades people to do their jobs

And buses will just - stop - in the road rather the pull into a bus stop to pick up and drop off passengers, what could possibly go wrong ??(The removal of the filter left westbound into Chiswick Lane is my particular favourite, both dangerous and guaranteed to cause tailbacks back to King Street)

"there is still a no right turn sign at the junction of CHR and Dukes Avenue"Yes, I noticed this afternoon that it had returned.  Tried to report it online to TfL but they wouldn't accept a report on a 'borough road', despite a TfL contractor being responsible.  I've raised the issue with Hounslow's traffic team and Mark Frost. The no-right-turn is not part of the cycleway scheme and should not be there.

Thank you for doing that, Richard. It is fast becoming impossible to get into the Glebe Estate. That no right turn sign today made me so vexed and worried today. These decisions are impacting lives in so many ways but it seems no one in a position of authority who is making these decisions cares in the slightest.

Look no further than King Street itself especially down by the mall.When the bus stops every single vehicle behind it must stop as well. Used to be those vehicles could pass the bus and continue. Not anymore. Sometimes the queue has several buses all needing to stop eventually.

Thanks Paul. I had a response from Hounslow this morning to say that the no-right-turn sign at the Dukes Avenue junction has now been removed, and apologising for the inconvenience of the "errant" sign put there by TfL's contractor.

Chris -  I am pretty certain that a no right turn and therefore a sign was included in the plans originally consulted on. This was (if I remember correctly) one of two junctions that TfL had to redesign and consult on a second time. My guess is that on a complex scheme with over 40 junctions on CHR that there would be one or two SNAFUs.
