Is anyone watching ‘Life’ on BBC1?

It’s absolutely brilliant and highly recommended.

Good to hear, we recorded it - there's such a load of old tripe on at the weekend we're storing up stuff to watch.

I haven't watched it yet, but I hear it is the same writers and producers that were involved with Dr Foster — which was amazing!

Angela Knight ● 2219d

Thanks will make sure |I see it.

Jennifer Selig ● 2219d

It’s a spin off from Dr Foster. I didn’t realise it to begin with but then googled it. A couple of the Dr Foster cast are in it and it shows what they’ve been up to. It’s brilliantly written and casted. You’re all in for a HUGE treat.

Georgina Flint ● 2219d

Agree it is wonderful. Well written and beautifully acted especially by Alison Steadman.

Pat Kingham ● 2219d

Alison Steadman plays the part to perfection. I’ve only seen her as Pam in Gavin and Stacey. What a talent to draw people into her life and make us feel it’s actually real and happening. Wow

Georgina Flint ● 2219d

Yes, it’s great fun, and if you enjoy Life you’ll probably enjoy Us too, also on the Beeb.  Tom Hollander and Saskia Reeves, excellent.

Alastair Banton ● 2219d

I’ll give ‘Us’ a try. Thanks Alastair

I'm not a big fan of Alison Steadman but she's brilliant in this. The twist at the end of episode 3 feels like a twist too far, though. Jumped the shark.

Yes I saw it but it wasn't nearly as impressive as 'Honour' on ITV.  'Honour'in 2 parts, based on a true event was absolutely riveting and had the wonderfully versatile actress Keely Hawes as the main character.  Just astounding!

V Killick ● 2218d

I watched Honour too. So sad but brilliant work by the DCI. Poor girl

Georgina Flint ● 2218d

Well, Georgina, based on your recommendation, I thought I'd give it a go. I ended up watching all six episodes on BBC IPlayer, and you're right, absolutely brilliant! I was totally hooked. Absolutely knackered now and off to bed! If all you've seen of Alison Steadman is in Gavin and Stacey, should check her out in Abigail's Party. The 1977 Mike Leigh play. An absolute classic.

Jill, I did the same as you - I watched the first episode and just had to see the rest.  It's like a book you just can't put down!

Now I’ve watched ‘Honour’ too.  Thanks for the rec.  I was reminded of something.Around twenty-five years ago I had a side job as an examiner for a Cambridge University examination board’s oral English tests.  One of these gigs took me to Wormwood Scrubs where I was introduced to two advanced level examinees, two Sikh brothers who couldn’t have been more pleasant or charming.  One had been a watch-maker, I recall.  They passed with high grades.  Afterwards I met the prison education officer again and expressed my surprise that such nice people could be in the nick.  It turned out that they had murdered their sister because she had been seeing a white boy.  I left the Scrubs numb with shock.

Watched 'Honour' not much honour attached to any of those appalling murderers, words fail me.Caught up with 'Life' and we both liked it - will watch it week by week and ration ourselves! Have really loved 'All Creatures' on Channel 5 - a real treat.

Vanessa Smith ● 2217d

Great Georgina - thanks for your recommendation.

Helen Bamberger ● 2217d

Cindy - me too. I binge watched it. Superb viewing.Alastair - crikey! No wonder you were shocked. You must have felt sick to the stomach having been near to them. It’s appalling. I’m catching up on ‘Us’. It’s great, so thanks AB.

Georgina Flint ● 2217d

Ok, so I'd better do a catch up on "Us". I think it's on BBC IPlayer? Before I get engrossed, how many episodes/series are there?

Jill Merrett ● 2217d

Georgina Flint ● 2217d
