Removal of traffic islands on the High Road

Has anyone else experienced how dangerous it now is to use the pedestrian crossings along the High Road with no central island when traffic flow is high?  This seems to be yet another example of incompetent execution of highway changes with little prior thought about the interim consequences.  Temporary island should be in place until the cycle lane works begin?  As if Chiswick does not have enough to deal with?

Yep And your be pointed to other places where it works no doubt. When someone is seriously injured,you know where to point the finger. And the return answer will be its to pretect others.

The refuge islands have been removed as part of C9, the revised version of CS9, which will be on the south side of the High Road (on the road, not through the pavement). C9 is, as before, a bi-directional track which will run through the bus lane which will no longer exist. The refuge islands have been removed to accommodate these changes.  The one outside The Italians has been removed to make space for a bus gate to give buses priority (similar to the bus gate near the Stamford Brook bus garage).
