Absolutely crowded with no attempt at social distancing. People trying to walk through you, shops with people just standing in the middle of the aisles. Back online for me!

Yes well, if the Council promoted a flower market to attract 7,000 punters it is obviously a sign that Covid-19 is over so no need to social distance anymore.

That’s why I do my shopping at 7am- now before the children go to school- no distancing after and shops are less busy- this has become more scary- just wish shops open early

Agree totally Helen. Had to go to the bank today, so left going to Sainsbury's until 9.00am. Goodness, what a difference. Won't be doing that again in a hurry. Not helped by the fact that Sainsbury's seem to have gotten a work experience teenager to rearrange their entire aisle system, so it's impossible to find anything.

Me too, it's either Sainsbury's at 7am or Waitrose at 8am, both quite easy to get round and pay !

It’s a shame that other shops including banks don’t open until 10 am- they are losing out on money as too many people are afraid to shop after that time-we are trying to be careful and shops are being rather narrow minded especially as they need us to spend money.
Clearly I must be shopping in a different universe. Sainsbury's is basically fine. Nearly everyone wears masks and they do their best to social distance - although the width of the aisles does make that difficult. Boots is well organised, likewise Dyas.I have absolutely no concerns and find most people are pretty sensible

I’m glad for you Justine but it isn’t as you say- I cant tell you the difference between 7 am and 10 am-
I've just been to Sainsbury's. Fairly empty. Everyone in masks. No drama at all.

GMcD > "No drama at all."I often wonder whether there is a 'good Chiswick' and a 'bad Chiswick'. I'm fairly sure I exist in the former. There are a number of unfortunate posters who clearly live in the latter.

Interesting gender divide on this.
Its like everything else in life these days. A country devided Half believe half dont. Half care half dont One has to pick a side and get on with life in the way one chooses to do so.

And a Chiswick divided by the local councils into North and South.

Rather than a glass half full / half empty, perhaps it's a case of vulnerable / not vulnerable and wanting to minimise risk of catching Coronavirus ?
None of us want to catch this so let’s not talk about half full or half empty- I most certainly agree with Iris
Yep,but many senior citizens out and about in W4 not social distancing or wearing a mask. Choice i believe is the same for everyone
Well, I went to Sainsbury's about 12pm and whizzed round. No queues at the till, everyone wearing face masks, back home by 12.30. I did notice the aisles being rearranged with lots of empty spaces, which could be a bit of a pain. But apart from that, all was fine.

I was talking about the High Road not Sainsbury!
Iris Hill ● 2242d
I find the High Road generally ok. It's nice and wide so allows you to move over if someone isn't keeping their distance. Mind out for the cyclists on the pavement though. I also find the majority of people wearing masks. Its rather silly of Sainsburys to move stock around at the moment, no one wants to wander aimlesly looking for things that have moved. I go to the Manor Road branch of Sainsburys these days if I have time, no coins needed for the trolleys and generally better organised . Of course it means I have to drive so shoot me.

'Interesting gender divide on this.'Men are almost twice as likely to die of Covid than women.
Susan Kelly ● 2242d
Iris, where are the aisles in the High Road? It was me that raised the name of Sainsbury's since they annoyed me so much today. Sorry about that. But dont worry people, the High Road itself will probably get quieter and quieter as more shops close down.
CHR is doing great, easy to self distance, wear a mask, most if not all shops have plenty of hand sanitiser, so let’s support our local community, go shopping, spend money

"Its rather silly of Sainsburys to move stock around at the moment, no one wants to wander aimlesly looking for things that have moved."Yes, its irritating at the best of times but to do so now is totally irresponsible. Wake up Sainsburys. Get a grip!

With the new covid infections now above over 3,500 since yesterday isn't it more than important that we take it seriously whatever our ages are- and the r rate is now above 1 . Seeing the children back to school with no social distancing and 10 or more all walking together arm and arm - really difficult to get out of their way - I don't blame them - just wonder where we go from now.
