Council taking over all Fusion sites

Just had an email to say the council are taking over all the Fusion sites and things will be reopening from 1st November.

Text of email:Fusion Lifestyle have been in discussion with Hounslow Council about the future provision of leisure services in the borough.As a result, Hounslow’s leisure centres are to be managed by the Council’s wholly owned company, Lampton 360, and the Public Halls in-house by the Council. The mutually agreed outcome means that Hounslow Council, along with its trading company, Lampton 360, will take over the operational running of their leisure services from 1 November 2020, with a phased approach to reopening the services during November. The Public Halls will be moved in-house and managed within the Environment, Culture and Customer Services Directorate.We can confirm that no further Direct Debits will be taken by Fusion and we will transfer over all memberships to the Council. All further correspondence will also come via the Council or their trading company, Lampton 360. This means that all your Terms and Conditions and prices that you pay will also be transferred to Lampton 360 and the Council.Thank you for supporting Fusion over the past 12 years, our best wishes for the future.Your Fusion Lifestyle Team

Pools in the Park in Richmond has been open for timed swims and aquafit for something over a month.

After today’s massive increase in Covid-19 it would be irresponsible to open in November.

Why did you resend it? (ha, ha - not)I think that Fusion were offering online classes for the £10.00 although I'm not sure as I had already cancelled my membership seeing what was coming. I did, however, have £10.00 taken from my account on the first month of closure and didn't agree to this. A request for a refund got no response.

I don't really see why as long as numbers are restricted and sessions pre-booked by phone, app or online. At Richmond aquafit there is, it seems, a maximum of 12 allowed in the class. We come 'pool ready' and put our clothes on chairs by the side of the pool and are not allowed to shower after. Life surely has to proceed, at least on some level.What I have a 'fear' of is that Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre won't re-open at all - ever - and if this is to be the case I would much rather the Council told us now.

The report that was presented to the cabinet about the sacking of Fusion has not been made available to the public. One possible reason would be that it contains details of the future plans for leisure centres with possible closures discussed. Whatever is in it, it isn't likely to be good news.

Lets hope they can make a success out of it. I would suggest counci employees in charge of the transfer go and test swim in Kensingtin sports centre to name a few to see how the process works effectively and efficiently.. It is actually more of a joy to swim as you book a time slots, you pay in advance and scan your phone on entry so its all a quick efficient, no waiting in a line process. For those who dont like modern technology i suggest you go for a walk. Its important to have minimal man power to make it work.
