'AstraZeneca Oxford University vaccine put on hold due to serious side effect illness.'We do not yet know if the person who has fallen ill has done so as a side effect of the vaccine. This is normal procedure in any vaccine development when a participant is unwell and will probably be resolved in a few days.

So we can't have people round for a small BBQ but we can go to a wedding where there might be 200 people and our children can still go to school with hundreds of others?We can't fly from Portugal to Scotland or Wales without self isolating for 14 days but we can fly to England from Portugal and avoid isolating by driving home to Scotland or Wales?Can't see any joined up thinking here.

The isolation rules from Portugal (and others) apply to where you live and not the airport you happen to arrive into.

I think the limit on people at a wedding is 30 people (and not hundreds!). Given that I suspect most people don't go to weddings more than a couple of times a year, the benefit is restricting gatherings at weddings to below the current number seems marginal in the whole scheme of things.

i would like to think most folk on here are well educated and it is clearly obvious that we are all confused about the ever changing rules and seems very obvious to me that we are ultimately going into a second lock down before christmas which as I was informed last week that the Govt are working on 2 households bubble. I think Chris sums it up perfectly, no joined up thinking here. This is a terrible situation we find ourselves and our leaders are making it worse by lack of leadership which is only going to get even more complicated with the impending Brexit debacle. what a bloody mess, eh oh.
