Petition signed in the hope that it might do some good. I have to say, despite being a (hopefully) law abiding citizen, it was very tempting to drive down Fisher's Lane yesterday when attempting to do a family shop. I would normally park at the back of Waitrose to do this, but now am expected to join the horrendous queue to get on to Acton Lane and down to the High Street that way - absolute madness. And the various people claiming it is not these road closures that are causing these queues are clearly in cloud cuckoo land! It most certainly is - it was never like this before. As a few people have commented, what is the point to these closures? TGT and Fisher's Lane aren't suddenly to become lovely pedestrianised roads, and I can't see how cyclists will benefit either. Those who are clearly not going to benefit are both the residents of Chiswick and local shopkeepers and businesses. And to those who say we should be walking or cycling? Clearly this is not practical on a number of levels, particularly if shopping, transporting children, collecting food orders, etc.I really do urge all those who feel the same way to sign any petitions that are going around (a local friend of mine has also recently started one) and write to anyone/everyone who will listen. It really is a complete joke...
