Thefts on Wellesley road on 13 august

On thursday 13 august on wellesley road a thief gained entry to a block and proceeded to open mail and delivered parcels to see what the value was of the contents. A set of keys were also stolen which caused particular concern and expense in changing locks. Property was stolen also namely a Blue Carrera Subway mountain hybrid bicycle which has a distinctive saddle with a russian hammer & sickle logo. And a `BELL` sticker on the frame. It has security makings registered with the police so if anyone comes across such a bicycle do let me know. In the mean time I think everyone needs to be extra vigilant to the fact that W4 is being targeted by thiefs. This ordeal has been extremely concerning not to mention stressful as to the implications of what might happen if we are targeted again. So frustrating!

Sorry to hear that. It is worrying for you I am sure.
On Thursday 13 August, we had an attractive (and expensive to us!) bicycle stolen from Central Chiswick. It was in a secure (?!) shed, solely for a single bicycle. The theft was around 10.30pm.
Agree that extra vigilance is needed.

Are you all on OWL?  www.owl.co.uk  They have some very good CCTV videos of catalytic converter thefts and no doubt other thefts. Last Saturday there was bike registration and check ups at Turnham Green.  This should help with identifying and claiming your stolen bikes back.  www.bikeregister.com and there are other websites that you can look for your bikes on.

From last week:"Police seize over 100 suspected stolen bikes at London address"https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-bicycles/police-seize-over-100-suspected-stolen-bikes-at-london-address-idUKKCN2540FRThe key to this was found here:"The investigation was launched after 11 people reported finding bicycles that had been stolen from them on sale on social media." When they say "social media" it seems Gumtree is esp popular with the thieves so if yours is stolen then it's worth spending time searching it and the other 2nd hand selling websites

There is a website that scans and pick up the adverts for cycles.  I can't remember which one it is.
