Came across this bit of footage from British Pathe which I think people will find fascinating and hilarious.I didn't have much to do with the St Nicolas Vicar, but don't you think it was great that a person in his position could converse with the younger generation, and join in with some of their activities.I was a mod so we didn't ride with the rockers or frequent the same places. We didn't have to much trouble in Chiswick as both sides when to the same school.

Brilliant and he should definitely be added to the notable residents thread where we also have Rev Michael Champneys at St Michael and All Angels who rode a motorcycle with all the leathers.1979-83

"Ton Up Padre" or "Heavens Angels"?Anyhow did anyone else catch the pretty blonde teenager at 1 min. 15 secs?I reckon it was Julia Foster, a popular actress in the 60's/70's/80's, now married to TV vet Bruce Fogle, parents to TV Presenter Ben.Born in 1943, she would have been 19 at the time of this video, which seems right.https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0287905/

Thanks for video Kevin. Some 11 years ago on this Forum we had a thread called CHISWICK 1957 and a quick check on FORUM SEARCH for "St Nicolas' Church throws up postings around the 3rd and 4th August 2011 about Father Brown.I recall that Viv Griffith wss involved with the topic.Worth checking out.PS: The Forum Search facility is quite formidable.

My older brother told me Father Brown baptised my father! No I am not that young but in order to buy the freehold of his home the Church Commissions insisted he was baptised! The Church owned acres of land in our area and I believe the homes were sold as leaseholds originally hence they held all the cards.

The Vicar of St Nicholas used to collect the ground rents for the Glebe Estate many years ago.

Do any of us have the latest booklet on the Glebe Estate?
