From the CHISWICK AS IT WAS publication re The Queen's Head:At some time during the last century (19th) it acquired the nickname 'The Hole in the Wall' as the landlord, in order to obtain easy access across the road to his poultry and pigs, knocked a hole in the opposite wall. The present public house was built in 1925'.

When it was The Hole in the Wall the pub sign did show pigs jumping through a hole in a brick wall. Before reverting to the Queen’s Head it had a brief spell as The Smokehouse.
