Wolfe Vets

Has anyone tried out Wolfe Vets yet, the new one in Chiswick?  If so, what did you think?  Please PM me if you'd prefer - please don't forget to put something in the subject line or it won't go through. I am planning to move one of my cats from her existing vet but would really appreciate some feedback on this one first.

Following. Have heard good things about James but really concerned about whether there is parking. Have had great experiences from Medivet, Chalkers Cnr and Tim, Richmond/Kew Rd vet (now a franchise like so many.).

Medivet is a franchise, Caroline.  Tim left Richmond Vets about six years ago to work abroad and sold it to his business partner, Karl.  It is not a franchise, it is still independent.  I really would like somewhere nearby if possible as she is terrified of the vet and anything that prolongs the experience - eg through travel there and back adds to the nightmare for her.  She always develops stress-related cystitis which lasts for a week and is utterly miserable for her after she has been. Three of my other animals are at Richmond Vets, and one at Youngs but not keen on moving her there now that Peter has left - I did ask if I could have a chat with the vet that has taken over as I have done with other vets before I move an animal to them but they said no unfortunately so it would be an absolute last resort.

Thanks very much for checking that out, Richard.  A friend of mine who is on it told me the same. Much appreciated- wonder why the poster above said there were?  Anyway, after some DMs from people in response to my post I won't be using them. Shame as per their  website  looked  ideal.

It's very difficult for a new business to build a reputation if people won't use them because they don't have a good reputation.

Yes. But the person who set this up apparently worked for another local vet practice so if he had a good reputation there should presumably be able to transfer it. Surprisingly there was no mention that I saw on the website about him working previously for another local vet practice.  But I may  have missed  it. You would have thought it would be highlighted as a strong selling point

There was a discussion thread (not just the business listing)? on 16 June which I have now found (difficult it seems to find threads) with no particular comments Apart from saying who had opened it with praise for him  although I am sure there was a previous thread with more comments  too. I will send a DM.

There was a thread on nextdoor a while back not just a listing and if I remember the comments were positive I myself added something.  I have been in to Wolfe as it's local for me and the welcome from the staff was excellent and I was told I could come back and I could have a look around.  As to parking it's no different to the rest of Chiswick it's difficult though across the road in Marlborough Road there are a few 'Pay & Display' spaces.

Yes it seems to be set up by him.Helen - you did contribute to the thread I was trying to find and did in the end although seemingly there were no particular comments about the vets in the thread  by anyone who had been there.

I've now found the 16 June thread on Nextdoor. Their search facility is unreliable.  Despite several mentions of "Wolfe Vets" in that thread, a search for "Wolfe" or "Wolfe Vets" doesn't find it, but a search for "Wolfe Vet" does find it because one poster used that name.Some very positive comments there about James who runs it, based on his time at Village Vets. (Wolfe Vets has only been open since 15 June.)  "I highly recommend him", "I absolutely second the recommendation for James", "He’s excellent", "Would also recommend James."

Thanks for update on Tim. He was our cats go to for many years before we left in 2012. Yes, mediate is a franchise and many others around too. "Village vet" etc. Pros and cons.

And James, the vet, is the reason we, and many others, are going over to Wolfe. Only issue seems to be lack of onsite  parking which is a big negative. Am presently costing keyhole spaying and costs vary enormously!

Nope but often a passenger in a cab.  Not many cabs will take dogs - I was lucky when late at night just before I went to bed I found one of my dogs had ingested a lot of currants that my cats knocked off the counter. Dialled the local cab company and thank God they were able to come quickly or he could have died.  Coat over pyjamas, Medivet at Richmond did the necessary induced vomiting at 1 am and kept him in for a couple of days, he was fine. Unfortunately it's difficult to find cabs who will take dogs, and even cats.  Will never use my local cab company again (on Southfield Road) after a really nasty cab driver from there made it incredibly stressful to transport a cat who was already very stressed in a basket to the vet.

Superb facilities - separate cat and dog areas in reception, the best kennels I've seen in London, not to mention consulting rooms, op areas and equipment. They even have a special air system. Best of all, they are 24 hours.Couldn't recommend them more highly. Feedback from my own clients has been A1

Other than vets with on-site parking (which there are very few in London), the location Wolfe looks good to me.  There's a triple loading bay directly outside for drop off/pick up and there are plenty of P&D/Pay by Phone bays in the roads opposite.  Plus many bus routes and Gunnersbury station diagonally opposite.

We registered our cat there as it's much closer than our previous vet. State of the art facilities and was given a full tour by James who is rightly proud of his new practice. He also explained their approach to pet care and I was really impressed. There are separate waiting areas for cats and dogs. All in all really pleased we registered our cat there.

Just visited and I echo what Marek said. He's got a great set up, which i think will be making most other practices look pretty tired. More importantly he's a good vet.
