French Lessons

Having reached moderate competence in reading and writing the language by using apps and text books I am still a disappointing long way off basic oral competence.Can anyway recommend how to take this further with lessons, either small groups or one-to-one?  Locally for the mature student.

Have you looked at the courses at RHACC (Richmond and Hillcroft Adult Community College)? The College is near enough opposite the Richmond Theatre.

P.S. If the course is marked with an asterisk in the book - don't think it always shows online - and you are over a certain age and living alone (for example) then there are reductions on the course fee. Always worth asking re reductions when enrolling.

Thanks for the info Anne but I suspect that the French conversation courses currently available are somewhat too advanced for me.  And the Autumn/Winter courses are listed as being on-line only, presumably because of the Coronavirus, which is probably not ideal for me at the moment.Thanks again.

If you are on Nextdoor they often have posts offering 1-1 tuition if that's what you are looking for, in various languages and other subjects too - worth posting on there I would have thought.

Philip, there is a Richmond French Language Meetup group.https://www.meetup.com/French-Language-in-RichmondThey do various social events although the pub lunches have lapsed recently for obvious reasons. Walks are just starting up again.I have found them a very friendly group and people are at various levels of proficiency.

Have you thought of listening to French radio. Difficult but it helps.
